    Nice title, huh?

Just wondering, for you mamas with daughters.....when do girls start getting discharge? My 6 (almost 7) year old thought she had peed a little in her pants. When she handed me her panties to put in the laundry, it looked a bit more like discharge. Isn't this too soon??????

Sorry for the graphic details, but we're all parents here right?

    :p

Why not ask your mom when you started?

My mom wouldn't have any idea LOL

My girls are too young, but I remember talking to my big sis about it when I was about 11 or so. I started my period at 12.

6-7 sounds a bit young, but every BODY is different. You could always call her doc if you don;t get alot of response here ya know

She could have a kidney or bladder infection going on. That would cause a discharge. She may need antibiotics if that is the case. Cranberry juice helps to flush out the kidneys and bladder.

I remember having discharge a long time before I actually got my period. I got my period at 12 or 13, but don't remember the starting of the discharge, might be around 9 or ten? no idea. sorry

I think a visit to the doc is called far. If it is discharge, it might well be an infection. If it is menstrual, it might be an early puberty type of hormone problem. I am not a knee jerk got to the doctor type. Most nurses are not. However, some things need a microscope or a blood test to find out what is going own. Judging from my daughters if you take her to the doctor it works best (I think) if you talk to her first about what the doctor might do. Get a vaginal swab or draw blood. Also a good time to talk about doctors and nurses looking at your private parts in an office or hospital.

Everybody I hope knows that the little triangle on the lower left of someone’s post is to report posts like the above. I have done so but if others do, it would not hurt.

    Thanks everybody.

I guess I was hoping for a lot of "that's normal" because I hate taking my kids to the doctor. Sometimes you gotta go though.

Hopefully it will be nothing big.

And~hippypaul~I will talk to her about what the doctor/nurse may do, but when I explained to her what discharge was yesterday, she got all weirded out. She doesn't even let the doctor look in her ears. This should be an experience!!!!!

    Thanks again!

    :)

I was a very shy kid like that too...maybe it'll help her if you just sit there, look in her eyes, hold her hand and act like everythings fine while its going on. When my parents tried to talk to me about that stuff I got embarrassed too. Just remember to not back down too much to the point you stop discussing! I wish my parents kept trying in the end but didn't know how to ask questions later.

Again, I would bear down hard on offices and hospitals being special places were things are different. You have to help them let their defenses down but also let them keep their private parts private. If that makes any sense. My wife always told my daughters that when she went to her special doctor that was what happened to her.

    I think I missed something.

And maybe I should be glad.
