I told my dental surgeeon I didn't like my hydrocodone/apap 7.5/750 and now I have Darvocet N 100 mg/apap 650mg what exactly is darvocet and is it stronger than hydrocodone? I'm thiinking since it's 100 mgs it may be.
MUCH weaker than Hydrocodone. Propoxyphene (the active ingredient in Darvocet) is not much stronger, in pain releif than aspirin. Some people do OK with it, but I am a chronic pain patient and I avoid it, as it doens't work well for my pain. If you are in pain, you would have been a lot better off with the hydro.
You need something much stronger than Darvocet for wisdom teeth extraction. You cannot compare mg's of one drug to mg's of another. They are each totally separate chemical entities. For example, 650mg of acetaminophen is a therapeutic dose. 650mg of levothyroxine would kill you. In fact, it is probably enough to kill several people. You can't compare apples to oranges. Do you see what I am saying?
It is much easier to overdose on Darvocet than many other painkillers. It also has a lot of Tylenol, and can cause seizures at high doses. You really shouldn't take a ton...
well, this is way old because I'm totally healed now. But I'm disapointed I was prescribed a weaker drug, I was in major pain, man. I didn't like hyrdrocodone because it made me angry for some reason, and of course itchy but I guess that's the norm. But I did enjoy selling it. It seemed the darvocets worked, I mostly just took them and slept while I had ice packs on my face.
