    Darkness to light, vise versa.

The fire was ablaze with the chattering of kinfolk. Stories, legends, myths, and all type of lore were exchanged that beautiful night..Brew and refreshments were passed around with grins of the youthful and aged. The night grew silent as the fire sparked emitting a few singes...

You speak softly to energize the conversation, "Legend has it that one day Evil shall swallow our hearts to leave us with eternal darkness.." The group of a dozen people chuckle smashing brews together. A child speaks up, "Hehe! I hope that we are saved by the light! Who would want to darken the hearts of the kingdom's future anyways?"

You respond with a grin, "I heard it was just a legend, do not get me wrong! Do you think that light will save you?" The child hesitated for a second, "Well..Thats how it always happens ri--.." The child paused looking around at the older faces.. An old man laughed silently stroking his sheep-white beard. "Legends are not always true my friends, some are fibs indeed." You turn your attention to the Old sage who is unknown to your kin, a stranger to all. The old man clears his throat and stomps his staff made of bamboo. "Do you want to know the basics of good an evil? Well if you do, listen closely, ears and eyes."

"Many years have past since the heart of evil has attained the threshold of immortailty. Wars raged on, feuds left undone." The old man created two teardrops that hugged eachother at opposite ends into the earth, coloring with white and black powder. The old man encircled the two teardrops, which seemed identicle to Tadpoles. He placed a little white dot inside the black teardrop, vise versa. The old man cleared his throat once again, "As you can see this symbol, well..Does anyone know what this symbol is?"

The child smiled, "Yes! Its uhh..The yiner yanger thing!" The old man laughed heartily. "Yes, it is a Yin Yang. Anyways, as you can see..The Yin has borrowed some from the Yang, vise versa. Does anyone know what this means?" You stared into the sage's eyes..Hesitating to speak, "There is no full evil nor good...Correct?" The old sage smiled as wrikles formed around his face. "Correct. Evil will always have a fraction of it's adversary, as well as good. The two energies represent tadpoles for the symbol, chasing anothers tail in constant motion."

The fire sparked once more as the sage rubbed his Bamboo staff. "There will be a time where crisis will surely submerge to take power..But light will protect and cast away any darkend shadows. .. These lands have had many encounters with Evil,

<b> The winds will always whisper a tale of lore, or legend."

"This is the Kingdom of the winds, do not expect for your eyes to only view light, darkness must come and will.." The child starts to shiver, petrified at the sage. The sage peers at the child, grining. "Do not worry, it is kismit..Or fate as you could say." Without dawn, there is no dusk, without love there is no hatred, and without light there is no darkness. Opposites keep this world woven together, and will forever balance the path to grey. Did you know," The old sage clears his throat a third time, "That we all have our own colors..But I will explain Three.."

"Your soul can be as dark as burned firewood, or light as the sun, but you will always be apart of your adversary, no matter what you choose to do in life. But there is grey! Balance..Half dark, half light infused together, to protect and to destroy. Few are born with this ability, and have the scars to prove it." The old man starts to weeze, as the wind picks up. The fire explodes as ash whisps around the group of people. The ash dissipates, the old man no longer in your presence.

Where he went, we do not know..But as you stroll around the kingdom walls at the darkest hour or lightest dawn, a wind will stream through your ears, whispering the legends of good or evil this land has experienced.

I'd say you're off to a good start. I hope you continue this story. There's still so much to tell here, like who's this "you" and what's his/her relationship with the narrator? :)

Also see "Bored of the Rings", by National Lampoon, starring the halfwits (I mean halflings) Frito and Dildo, the sorcerer Getoff, and the underworld creature Goddam. Frito and his friends Murky and Trippin embark on their mission to save the world (at least, Middle Earth) from the Narcs, the sorcerer Taxman, and other baddies from Fourdoor.

One ring to draft them all, one ring to find them, one ring to imprison them and in the darkness bind them.
