so i'm taking my brother to see Dark Star Orchestra on may 18th and i was just wondering if any of you guys have seen one of their shows. they sound pretty great on the computer but i was just wondering if they do a good job at capturing some of the live magic that the dead churned out. what did you guys think?

they are a great cover band. I'm seeing them next week for the 30th time. They were a lot more experimental when John was the guitarist. As in they took more risks musically which often resulted in a little more face meltage. Now that Jeff is the guitarist, they are more of a dance band. Its hard to explain... they used to "hit uncharted territory" within the jams the dead layed out. Now, they make rockin dance tunes out of the dead's music.

    bottom line... you'll love em

Yeah, I'll be seeing them for the 3rd time in a couple weeks at Wakarusa, and although I can't say I got to see Jerry and co., these guys put on an awesome show...the Terrapin they played last year in Oxford, Ms was on point to say the least. Ha, well I just realized that you have now already seen the show, but I'll post this anyway...how'd it go?

it was absolutely phenominal! i will definitely be catching another of their shows. they blew away all of my expectations. its kind of funny too cause a couple friends of mine that graduated a year or two ago actually were sitting right next to us so i got to catch up with them as well. but they definitely put on a fantastic show
