I love sittin back and sippin on a magic hat, newcastle or even a guinness. i want to know what other dark beer fans like for brews.

MagicHat! You must be from New England. I haven't had Magic Hat in a long time. Dark beers... You've listed my favorite, Guiness, but there are so many micro brew dark beers out there, its really hard to choose.

I like dark chocolate and java stouts the best I think though...

Magic Hat is distributed all up and down the east coast, actually. I am just trying to think which of their beers would classify as a "dark beer." I haven't tried all their beers, but I really liked their "Blind Faith."

"Dark beer" is such a vague term, but my favorite dark beer is Victory's "Storm King" stout.

I've only had Storm King once... i kept the front of the box.. anywhoo, I should try it again since you rave so much about it. I only keep the front of boxes that I like, so that's a good sign :)

Cool! Just make sure you don't drink it too cold, or it loses a lot of its flavor and complexities, particularly in terms of body and mouthfeel. I find that it's best right around 50 degrees fahrenheit, which is cellar temperature.

Storm King is an amazing beer, but respect it as it's pretty potent stuff. :)

you are right, in 9.1% alcohol, its makin me feel pretty happy, but I also like the fact that it tells on the bottle, when it WAS bottled... this was bottled january 20th.... a little late, but hey.... it's good beer:)

Actually, you could probably cellar that beer for a good two years and it would actually mellow out a bit more and gain even more complexities with time. With high alcohol beers you don't really have to worry about shelf-life as much because they can remain good for several years, unlike lagers, pale ales and standard stouts, which have a pretty much limited shelf-life.

the only dark beer that people will buy for me is Guinness. now i like guinness, but i would love to try other dark beers. whenever we have a party, we just get a couple 30's of bud, but nothing really worth the title of a good beer. so i'm pretty much stuck for the next 2 years, unless my friends get more into drinking good beer instead of getting crap to get fucked up with all the time. i'm not saying we shouldn't get smashed, but i wanna expand to see what's out there. damnit, i'm such a youngin
