who remembers this show? it's pretty awesome, and one of my favorites still. a great cartoon...

but it has never been released to DVD. DVDs exist, but they're bootlegs. i downloaded the whole series, but the quality on many is lousy. i wish it could be found on legitimate release.

does anybody know why it hasn't been released yet?

It's probably not financially beneficial to mass release it. I don't think it was ever THAT popular.

I probably didn't tell you anything new though.

sort of a cult classic, but the income from the sales would be enormous. my guess is the issue lies in all the music on the show. lots and lots of various musicians and bands got put on there, and they would ALL have to be paid to release the dvds. from korn to jefferson airplane to a few really obscure artists. often lousy music, but in the show it fits. usually the song just played for a few seconds, but i dont think anything beyond the theme song was original, and there was a TON of music in the show.

I have a place in my heart for that show. I liked it when Daria got hives whenever she talked to her friend's brother.

Dunno... wouldn't the same concept apply to Beavis and Butthead? (even more so)

They have a bunch of DVDs though.

I just honestly don't think that the cult following is enough to tinkle MTV's advertising penis.

considering that it is MTV, you may be right. the income would be substantial, but for the likes of them, it may not be worth the trouble.

i never watched beavis and butthead much, but i'm watching an episode of daria right now, and every few seconds theres a new song.

so far i remember hearing jefferson airplane, beastie boys, hanson, the cardigans, REM, and a bunch of others that either i dont remember or i don't recognize

Well, Beavis and Butthead pretty much make fun of musical videos.

Which means that it's not only the song that would theoretically have to be paid... but also the director, producer, label, etc, etc, etc.

There are HUGE bands in Beavis and Butthead. Like... Metallica and shit. Bands that would ask for money just for the asshole factor.

I noticed. I just thought it might be worth it, given how cheap it was.
I might buy it myself just for jollies.

yeah, if you do let me know about quality.

for now, i've got bootlegged internet downloads, and an external harddrive so its nothing to worry about in terms of memory. they're lousy quality, but as long as i have it i'll probably just wait and hope its released to dvd

i think the fanbase for beavis and butthead is larger due to the shock value and the sensationalism with which it was treated in its time, not because of quality. but for some reason the fanbase is still much larger. i don't get it, really. i think they're more annoying than funny most of the time.

edit: just heard a song in the previously mentioned episode by the turtles.

also, i forgot there IS original music. first of all there is mystik spiral.....then theres this gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rItJ6eckpXI

    I will.

They seem to have been up and running for a few years; seem to have good logistics in place. I'd imagine they were good quality...or they would not be in business, I imagine.

Daria was definitely more engaging than Beavis and Butthead...although I think the movie was pretty priceless. Lesbian Seagull is a classic song.

I think that the movie was amusing, yet nowhere near as good as the show. The show had a point, and it was classic. The movie just abused the characters.

The show is really outdated and boring. Their comments on music videos are probably the only thing still fresh and funny.
