I try not to do anything that I know will fuck me over, either in the long or short run (minus weed and alc, which are questionable anyway), and usually inhalents definitely fall into a pithole in which the effects aren't close to worth the fuck-up-age the drugs do to your body, in terms of damage. But man, whipits would be easy to get a hold of with a few bucks, and I can't really smoke lately, so just how dangerous are they? I know people can get some crazy brain damage with certain things like this (possibly death?), so I just want to check it out before I think of trying it out

whipits (nitrous oxide) can definately cause brain damage. they fit perfectly into the category of inhalants and are just as dangerous

Comparatively whippets arent nearly as dangerous as, say dust-off or paint thinner. Dentists still use nitrous, so it can be used with out permanent damage. Not to say that you cant hurt yourself with them, but if you are responsible and know your limits, you should be fine.

    Thanks for the replies guys

Yeah I was assuming brain damage, meh; at least it's not the kind of stuff that would kill me rightout (well, reasonably used), maybe I should just try to get some salvia for the time being, though.

NorCali, good call with the other two; I know some kids that shoplift dustoff and spray it into a big bowl and go to town, but they're pretty stupid already. And true, forgot dentists still use it, thanks.

norcali-There is a huge difference between a huffing a Whipit which is inhaling straight n20 then what the dentist gives you. That is the the Dentist is mixing his N20 with Oxygen making it a hell of alot more safe and alot less potent. That being said N20 is 100 times safer then your classic inhalents like Model Glue,Duster,Spray paint, etc, Inhaling addicts actually drop dead faster then any kind of drug abusers out there ! Inhalents are so much more deadly then even IV Herion there are about 100 ways you can die from abusing them. Even if you don't die within 2 years after abusing them you will be luckey as all hell if you can still remember your own fucking name.inhalients burn out the user and just tear threw brain cells like no other substance of abuse out there !!!!

What makes nitrous dangerous and causes brain damage is that the "high" you feel is your brain being deprived of oxygen. Doing this not only kills lots of brain cells, but also you can "fish out" or "blackout" and fall and hurt yourself. This causes a problem for me as I absolutely love nitrous .. I'm that guy you see clinging on to the tank. I've even ran a couple of tanks myself. What I have learned is that just as with anything else ... have fun but don't take it too far. Hit a balloon or two (While sitting down!!!) and then take a break. If you sit there and hit balloon after balloon and just keep going you ARE going to blackout and you are going to have one hell of a headache. To answer your question simply no picking up a case of whippits or a balloon or two off a tank is not going to kill you or cause any kind of noticeable brain damage (prolly less than a cellphone call), but if you go balls-to-the-wall with it and dont know how to stop you will probably end up frying your brain and have the potential to hurt yourself or even die. (pass out have a concussion ect.) Just be easy :)

Nitrous doesn't cause brain damage, but other inhalants do.

Anything that kills brain cells is causing brain damage. Sneezing causes brain damage.

there is a reason whipits are called hippy-crack...!

yea they kill brain cells but EVENTUALLY youll grow them back anyway,,,its no where near as bad for you as methamphetamine or pcp though...and if u are that worried just take it with more oxygen, inhale a breath of air between each inhalation out of your baloon of nitrous and youll be fine....one thing i noticed though was after a LOT of whipits (like a hundred dollar binge) your immune system really gets fucked up, like i was sick as a dog after that...i know it depletes one of ur b vitamines (b6?) but i dont know what that has to do with ur imune system...peace

You know, I'd rather inhale whipits than butane. I know some kids that inhale butane... n you can just tell that theres something a bit "off" about them

I think I'll trust the doctor on this one. That's quite a Freudian sentence Shocumb. :)

In essence, if someone is already of below average intelligence, they are much more vulnerable to getting (and staying) 'burnt'.

    The Fertile Brain
Elizabeth Gould, professor of psychology and neurogenesis researcher at Princeton University, said the study is exciting because it shows that neurogenesis can occur in an area not widely accepted as capable of growing new neurons. Gould notes that Flier’s team delivered the BrdU marker directly into the brain, rather than into the skin as is commonly done. She speculated that the technique may increase the sensitivity and allow them to see neurogenesis that had not been detected before. And she noted it was interesting to see new neurons growing even without CNTF. “They did show that it happens in the controls,” she said. “But it happens at a much higher level in response to this treatment.”

I think it will be many many years down the road before they are able to grow brain cells back in the human brain. If and when they do it will open up a whole new door to curing and understanding brain disorders and diseases.
