All in all, it's rather nice to see the U.S. returning to a period of charismatic and strong leaders (Unless McCain wins). I read this thing about how they can trade African roots now. You could trace it back to some tribe in the Kenya region if you even have a bit in you... then you'd truly know.
To elaborate on that: Democrats typically position themselves to the left of Republicans during major elections and drift back to center-right after being elected. That's probably been the case at least since Carter from what I've read. No wonder people get riled up.
I'm pretty optimistic here. McCain has nothing going for him. He has no substance. And if Obama had no ideas, you could say he was all sparkle and no substance. But this is McCain we're talking. He's more crummy than sparkle.
That's not the case. Simply it's been a matter of having no Democratic president with a democratic congress before. A democratic president without a democratic congress is almost powerless to get any sort of legislation he wants. That's why Clinton's years were such a static 8 years. No new radical ideas came. And all the bills he signed were centrist.
Yes, McCain has nothing going for him, but I see a spark of confidence in his eyes that says that there's something we don't know. It's like a bad Hollywood movie. Who knows... the good guys are supposed to win though. People always get riled up during the primaries, even though your initial statement is right. Only the hardcore folks go to the primaries. Most people don't vote until the big day.
Yes.yes he is so very pretty. And hey that's what it is all about. He gives eloquent speechs someone else wrote for him. Never mind he does not know what he is talking about. He reads what someone else wrote down for him to say. All he says is change. That's what they all say. But hey he just looks so good. That's all we need. Good luck to us if this symbol of political correctness makes his way into office. But hey he looks good. That will keep us going right. Peace
if the french dont beat them to it.. yep thats exactly what the european pundits they interviewed afterwards said..
I wouldn't call NAFTA, going into the Balkans without UN approval, years-long regular bombing of Iraqi infrastructure, and the repudiation of welfare --- static. But hey. Of course there'll be an excuse to those who want to listen.
nixon was better, I know how evil he is, and the my dog checkers speech kinda makes me feel like he was given a bad shake, even though, I KNOW he wasn't/
He does have some of the best speech writers ever. His AIPAC speech made my mama cry. Shit has got to be powerful to make an intelligent grown woman cry.
he's every bit as quick to want to go to war as mccain is. anything to appease those who butter his bread i suppose.
Somehow even though Obama has been able to raise much more money than McCain, the GOP has been able to outraise the democrats 12 to 1. I think it's because in the Bush economy, only elitist who get their money by squeezing ambergris out of whales can afford to donate large sums of money... And I think the sparkle in McCains eye may be in his world view, losing to a black man named Obama 7 years after 9/11 seems impossible. The GOP plan of a permanent majority is over. And me and Pavels generation is very liberal. Hurray Obama!
I agree. His "difference": Oh I'll bomb the shit out of a Central Asian desert as opposed to a Asia Minor desert.
