I just spent a month in the hospital with complications from major surgery. Two weeks of 2mg of dilaudid every hour, followed by three weeks of 100mg of demerol every 3 hours. After 30 years of playing with narcotics, I was, for the first time, addicted! Withdrawl sucked!
woah, what happened dude, that a LOT of pain meds... damn. man that sucks, you got addicted, because of what the doctors were giving you and not from your own dabbling into narcotics.... id be pissed!
Bummer, geck. I'm sorry that happened. Are you doing alright now? How are you healing from the surgery? Most people are the opposite, the don't get "addicted" due to medical prescribing, but they do from recreational. I am sorry this happened. Take care of yourself. Love, Maggie
Thanks, Maggie. I had a double bowel resection and then developed an abbcess, along with nurmerous more minor infections. Feeling much better now. I've got to admit; for the last week or so the pain was mostly gone- but I took the demerol anyway, even though a part of me was appalled at my behavior.
Bowel resection. OWWWWWW! I hope you are recovering well, from the surgery as well as the drug thing. That was a hell of a lotta demerol. Abdominal surgery can be nasty.
that sucks a lot man.....my dad went through some major surgery, got a tumor the size of a tennis ball removed from his spine a couple years ago....thank god it wasn't cancerous.....he was on opiates for a long time after, and then when the doctors wanted to get him off of it they prescribed clonidine patches. supposed to help with withdrawal.....only the dipshits they call pharmacy techs forgot to actually put the clonidine on the patches. so he went through withdrawl cold turkey with nothing but a placebo to comfort him, and placebos don't do much for getting the shits when you get off the drugs.... ugh, wouldn't wish withdrawal on my worst enemy. glad to hear you're doing better though!
I know the perscribed med habit all to well. After finannlly kicking a habit when I was around 18. Clean for 12yrs. At work a freind played joke which backfired and broke my back. Well, I was told oxy was less addictive than vicodin! (This was 1997) Pain clinic promised me they would help me get off pills when I was better. Well, after years of addictoin I'm in a methedone clinic. A f***ed up mess. Good luck with your misfurtunes though. I feel your opiate problem
