Dakinis are the enlightened and compassionate aspect of nature. They are everywhere, including within ones own aggregated being. To worship the Dakini or utilize the Dakini is to say that one goes directly for the experience of the uncompounded and spacious aspect of the mind. Of the Dakinis the most spacious and protective and also terrible to ones system of protective mental fabrications is Ekajati or Samantabhadri - the Great Queen of the Pure Space of Phenomena. She is the ultimate Protectoress of Dzogchen practitioners. She helps those who practice Trekchod. Trekchod is the Dzogchen practice of remaining open to the present free of mental fabrication. It is the practice of remaining compassionate in spite of circumstance. A person can get easily jaded in this life but the practice of Trekchod cuts through the hardening process of the mind so that one can remain open and compassionate. Dakinis are the masters of trekchod or cutting through hardness with softness. they also do not judge one based on moral standards but based on the standard of openness of the heart and depth of samadhi. Nay, they don't judge at all, they are the naturally pure and spontaneously free essence of life itself. To speak of Dakinis as if they are 'out there' somewhere is fallacious. We are dakinis, naturally, regardless of our actual sex. Chogyal Namkhai Norbu is giving a Dakini teaching soon in Australia.
