daddy long legs in the uk like spiders with wings and very long legs that turn up in summer. I dont know if they are the same thing?
That's what I call them, but I've heard the called "Harvesters" too.. They have a very strong poison and they eat other insects, fortunately their mouths are configured wrong to bite people. The spiders with wings things are mosquito hawks..... they eat lots of mozies good insects both. Y'all got enough nasty ones down there, though....
Argh! I hate any spider, biteless of not *eeeeeeeee* *runs away screaming and jumps onto a chair with a large broom*
No worries, Harvesters aren't spiders anyway (count the legs). It's the funnel webs that worry me... crawl up in your sleeping bag, between them and the tiger snakes Ever see a Golden Orb spider? the webs are golden, beauties!
haha... we always called em Granddaddy Long Legs and we never killed em, cause we was always told they ate other bad bugs and that they couldn't/didn't hurt you. none ever crawled on me, at least...
My family always caled them Daddy Long Legs.... and when I was little my sister and I saw a bunch of them and called the Mummy Long Legs and Baby Long Legs
We have 'em here also. ALways called them daddy long legs as well. I used to pick them up when I was a little kid...Im lucky they arnt harmful to humans!
spiders....brrrr....naaasty. apparently we eat at least 50 in our lifetime in our sleep. something like that. *shudders* yes and i call them daddy long legs. i always thought it was our family being odd.. love daisyness xxx
