Dad won't let me get my lip pierced.

Hey guys, my father won't let me get my lip pierced but I really want it done. Is there any way I can convince him? Or any way around this, like wearing a lip ring without having it pierced? Help me out guys.

 

they make clip-on rings just buy one of those...less painful anyway

 

Do the clip on ones look as nice? Where can you get them?

I'm just going to wear a clip on for awhile then get it really pierced dad won't know then.

I highly suggest letting him know exactly why you want to pierce it, not just because "it's cool" which, it really isn't, or because "all my friends are doing it" thats the easiest one to rebutt. Let him know that you are becoming an individual and it's something you must experiece to get the most out of life.

Cry about it, make a few emo songs about oppression (man I'm raggin on Emo tonight) and then maybe try talking to him like an adult. Listen to his points and discuss them... Just work through it

 

hey, yea u can get clip on ones, i got one from a jewlew, u can ask em 2 make me 4 u if they dont got one! And yea my parents sed im not alowed one eitha, bt wen ure old enuff 2 get one, get it if u really want it, bt make sure u aware of the possible infections, the scarring, the fun and everythin! at the end of the day its your body, ure life, bt also rememba wt ure dad has done 4 u and that he mattas to, go u!

 

I don't know how old you are, Grunge Lord, but you should definitely look into the consequences of piercing your lip, as folks have pointed out. Also, I know that when you're a teenager years seem like a long time, but you will be an adult sooner than you think and then you can pierce whatever you want.

 

Well I've seen the scarring from it and it doesn't seem that bad. Infections are probably avoidable if you take proper percautions.

Yes your right I'm only 17 but I don't plan to live until I'm thirty so I want to have fun now. Live fast, die young is my motto.

 

Just wait the extra year till youre 18....that way there will be no beef between you and your father, and waiting will show Pops that you are mature enough to wait for something you really want.

-Whatever you do, dont try piercing yourself with dirty equipment or at a shop that pierces underage kids....you don't want to end up with hepatitis or HIV or a gnarly infection-that would really give your dad a perfect opportunity to say "I told you so".

 

i tried that. bad idea. i did that on my ear (still not 100% what its really called. just pointed and told the guy i want this pierced) but that nubby part in the ear, not the lobe, the part that covers the hole)

anywho, they didnt notice for a few weeks, but eventually they realized somehow that it was real and told me that if it wasnt out in 1 minute that theyd rip it out.

just do what im doing for my nose. "if i do ___ can i have the piercing. i know you dont like it but ive wanted it for a long time. i'll pay for it, find a clean safe place. if it gets infected or anything its my own problem and i'll deal with it and pay if i really actually need medical attention."

im going with 'if i get all A's this semester..' but thats because i want to bring my GPA up and im taking relatively easy course

just be honest with them
find out why they dont want you to have the piercing and counter argue. dont be annoying though, that doesnt help. be respectful and understanding
