It's already been two days , and both days I end up going to one class, then leaving to go to the park or 7-11 afterwards. Non-stoned life is so boring, especially when your at school. I used to cut a lot last year too, luckily, I had awesome teachers that passed me anyways.

How can I keep myself from leaving school early?

    Thanks,
    -TEC

The only way you can not skip is to tell yourself not to. Skipping is your option, and I doubt someone else could give you the decision to stay at school or not.

You'll have to straighten up this year, because those teachers you had last year are rare, and I doubt these new teachers are as cool as the others. Your choice: pass or fail.

If you really want to discipline yourself, then you can restrain from buying anything from 7-11 or going to the park except after you finish a full day (or set other markers) of school. Just little rewards like that can you help you, how old are you? I know that i missed 6 days of school the first month because I hated it so much, my parents finally take me out tomorrow (i went for first period yesterday and came home) and they're homeschooling me.. I rarely went, I know, but I didn't want to spend four years of my life in prison, if you're interested in leaving school you should read The Teenage Liberation Handbook, it proves amazing points that may or may not be obvious about how opressing school is (supressing? i dont know that difference)

What??? Sounds like some pretty bad damn teachers that are just too lazy to do their jobs. Now, you're going to be in classes with people who actually did what they were supposed to do last year, so they know what's going on, but will be stuck putting up with your unprepared ass.

But, then, it doesn't sound like you care about your education & are just waiting to turn 16 to drop out... At least, that's the impression I get from someone who cuts class as you claim to & bitches that "non-stoned life is so boring" (pathetic).

I want to finish high school, and I plan too. In no way does my absense from class disrupt anyone else's school life, what a stupid thing to say. I wanted to keep myself from cutting by asking people's advice in this thread, not for people to be judgemental ass clowns about it.

I used to skip alot too. It's addictive as hell. We'd start running, and have a teacher chasing us. We could hear her signaling other APs on her walkie talkie to capture us. That's really the problem with me. It was'nt that I hated school, it was that skipping was so much fun. Is that the same situation with you? Once you start going to school more often, you won't get that desire to skip. Like in the morning, when you're really tired, don't think, "I'm tired, I'm not going to school", think, "I'll go to school and sleep through first hour". Once you get all dressed and cleaned up and you're at school, you wont feel as tired, and probably won't sleep. Just don't let it get in your head that you can just skip school and not have to worry about it.

If you are actually right about that, I am quite amazed. If you never have to ask a question in class, if you do your homework so that the teacher never has to repeat what she said the day before, have fun doing whatever. My experience in high school was such that, the people who liked to skip were always lost when they actually DID come to class, so the rest of us had to be tortured by the teacher going over AGAIN what the rest of us already understood. That REALLY pissed me off.

Being bored out of my mind because the person just couldn't understand the concept no matter how hard s/he tried is one thing. Being bored because the idiot wouldn't come to class & never bothered to do his/her homework was just fucking obnoxious.

But, hey, if you never slow the class down, I'm sorry for my comments. If you're cutting because you're bored, maybe once you learn to actually show up regularly, you will be able to get into some classes that wouldn't bore you.

Man, I used to skip like hell when I was a Freshman (in college)... I was at an all male boarding school in NC, and my teachers gave too much of a damn in my other schools, so skippin class was all new to me once I got to PC. Like the chick who posted before me, I used to go smoke pot with friends all the time, get drunk and just show up to draw in my notebook, or I would find some other kind of distraction other than actually paying attention. Really, the hard part for me was leaving the room and then focusing on one thing for an hour at a time... Little did I realize that I had whatever the hell ADD was, but man... it turned out that skippin classes a lot was a part of it. It wasn't that was too lazy to go to class, it was just that I was relatively uninterested unless it was something practical, and I was really unmotivated. Now they put me on pills that take care of that for me, but still... going to class is hard sometimes when you don't need the class later in life. Especially when there's a whole different world out there... Hell, just this morning I woke up at 7:30 for my 8:00 class, but when I realized I wasn't getting a shower, I was out of cokes and deodorant, and I had a lot more "important" shit to take care of, I skipped that 8:00 like a bitch! It was awesome 'cause I got some Tazo tea and stuff at Bi-Lo, but I did e-mail my professor to see what I missed. They like that, and it lets them know you give a damn. Maybe e-mailing or calling your teachers/professors would be a good way to get shit done, and not deal with classes from time to time. Teachers are more and more aware of difficulties some students have with sitting in the traditional classroom setting, and many of them are more than willing to work around certain things in order to make sure things flow as smoothly as possible. Seeing as you have posted on this site, and this site is certainly full of people who could easily identify with many people who have such difficulties, I bet that one solution, and perhaps the best, would be to discuss this issue up front and honestly with your teacher. You may also want to be tested for ADD, but that is just a suggestion b/c there seem to be a lot of similarities in people who have ADD and people who find it hard to attend/sit through class. Anyways, take from that what you will, and good luck finding a solution!
    Peace~

The End Complete- read that book. It could really solve a lot of your problems and explain why you feel that way- it's very easy to read, very down to earth and straight to the point. She points out how opressing school is, it made me realize why I hated going there so much.

you cant skip school at my school.. they umm sorta mark the role?

You can get out of a period once in a while but if someones missing, theyll find you and yull get in trouble n stuff.

I think its one of those 'lack of rights' that is necessary!

skipping and leaving school is like a disease, and it catches very fast, 'specially when your not getting caught while doing it.

I've taken to skipping atleast a day a week cos im not getting caught while doing it. cant really suggest anything for ya as i have that problem aswell. But i sorta know what i want to do next year which is kind of a bonus for me. Just means i have to do well in my Exams:confused:.

Try making a deal with your oldz (parents), like they buy you a awsome car if you stay till your last year @ school or something.

To the person that told me to make a lot of friends in my school, I already have, and ALL of them, cut too! Actually, I have a new problem... I've been cutting at least once a week now, and I've skipped my math class completely. (Its a class I've taken 2 years ago, but for some reason must re-take, so I'm skipping it). I've gotten 3 cut notices in the mail, which my dad has found, and I just told him it was a mistake and that I'll get it sorted out. I'm thinking about going to my class tomorrow... maybe. any useful advice would be grately appriciated.

Stoner Bill, there's always a way to skip school. Call as your parent, or have someone else. Forge a note (I used to write 6-7 notes a days for folks, just changing up my handwriting. Apparently I had "mom" handwriting). If they stick the roll outside the door to be picked up each period, you go by class before they take it and mark yourself off. Skip a period then stop by the nurse's office before or after for a note. Skip class then find an off-period teacher who needs help with something and get a note. Skip class then get in trouble for something minor to get sent to the office and get a note. have someone who's off the period to come by and say you're needed in the office, for a journalism meeting, etc. Where there's a will, there's a truant.
