I was asked by a friend to make up some maternity wear for her I just wanted to share with you mamas what I came up with. I had alot of fun making this for her as Iv never done anything quite like it before. I still need to add a tie onto the waist and a little more length on the top. I just wanted to show you how it is going so far. Firstly the top is adjustable with the lace up loops at the back, is made from a gorgeous tye and dye cotton fabric she posted me and some natural hand dyed hemp fabric I had in my stash. It is so super soft and stretchy so I made it so it can adjust for growing boobies too, you just tie it up looser or sighter in the middle.
Then I have this lovely hemp and patchwork skirt. again i used a strip of that lovely fabric for at the bottom, along with various shades of pinks, greens, purples browns and blues in some stretch hemp and hemp cotton. At the back there is a stripe of patchwork in pink, floral green and the tye and dye fabric she gave me going down the middle.
Here is how you tie it up. 1. You put it on, and hold the end of the waistband. make sure that the bottom of the top section sits just under your waist. 2. Still holding the end, pinch the two sides together where the fabric meets your body, then wrap is across your waist.( this is where you would also use the tie to secure the wrap.
3. Fold once and make sure its tucked in all around the skirt, then fold again to secure and there we have it This should fit you for quite a few months I hope, maybe until the very end of your pregnancy and you can cary on wearing it afterwards. I hope that she will love it, again Il say it I had so much fun making this one I will haveto go out and get some more of that hemp fabric to make more. Arlia
