hold down the control button and press the "+"... do that a few times
and also try holding down the same key and press "-"

when i worked in customer service at MCI, i used to click "shift" a bunch of times and then disable my keyboard so that the computer techs would have to "fix it". they couldnt figure it out, so they would restart my computer, and i would sit there and get a break from taking calls.
