My newest annoyance, wondering what fellow Canadians thought were on this one: (Please note, this is not my rant.. Just one I found online that summed it up nicely) As you may have heard, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has recently approved Bell Canada's request to introduce Usage Based Billing on wholesale Internet services. Please send letters to the CRTC , and the news as it is going to affect the schools and libraries . The CRTC's decision directly affects the High-Speed Internet service provided to you , unfortunately, the newly associated costs to IPS make the unlimited Internet service you are now enjoying no longer financially viable. This serves as 30 days notice that beginning February 1, 2011 there will be changes to your Internet service provided by IPS As a result, the following changes will apply commencing your February invoice: • Your existing High Speed Internet plan will now have 25GB of monthly usage included • For the minority of customers who exceed this amount, additional usage up to 300GB will be charged at $2.00/GB to a maximum of $60.00/month. Usage in excess of 300GB per month will be charged an additional $1.10/GB
That would suck if it is a big company. My little rural highspeed company gives me 10GB a month, but they don't ever charge extra and I know I go way over that every month with downloading.
Yeah, I'm on rural satellite internet because cable doesn't run this far into nowhere. From what I was reading was if the small companies buy from a company like rogers or bell, they could force them to raise their rates as well. Boo. After being on dial up forever we finally get highspeed and then this..
Yeah i was on dial-up till like 3 years ago. Im not that far out of town, 15-20 minutes from sherwood park or edmonton. I probably won't see a price increase too be honest though.
dont sign that either lol...it got bounced back after 4 hours and now the people that started it are sending emails asking for donations to buy ads on tv opposing it lol...
