In your opinion which is scarier? I'd have to pick the croc. Yes sharks can be terrifying but you're safe if you are out of the water. A croc (or alligators if you have them in your area) can get you in the water and on land.

Hmm, my first thought is shark, but you do make a good point about them being able to get you on land.

A shark can easily take off a body part and move on while a croc will just latch on to you and yank you around, chew on you for a while and it’ll take a lot longer for them to finally kill you.

considering as how my only dependence on water is to drink it or wash with it, i'm not a whole lot of worried about either one.
if they started coming out of the faucet on my sink i might have to revise that.
but even then, sharks don't live very long out of water, so i guess that means croc's.

for me it would have to be between bears, kitty cats (puma/cougar/mtn lion being what we call them locally) or doggies (wolves, coyotes i don't much worry about)
and between them, i'd say bears are the most unpredictably dangerous. but even they're more likely to run off the attact anything if given half the chance.
probably more dangerous then wolves are domestic dogs that have gone feral and formed their own wolf like packs.
cats are like cats only bigger, which makes them potentially dangerous, they just mostly really seriously prefer to live by themselves.

the only really most scary thing, is a human with a gun who thinks some kind of genocide would make the world a better place.
with a gun, or with political authority. compared to those, large natural predators are almost comic relief.

and don't forget the little things. well i guess this is about maybe trying to forget them. those little things that are too small to see.
forget about the big stuff, those are what'll do for you. those and humans who think there's love in hating logic and logic in hating consideration.

Sharks are scarier and more fascinating. If i see a shark that's free it is more often too late. Not so much with a crocodile. A crocodile can go on land but i seriously doubt it can out run me. Its dependent on the element of surprise but i don't go on swampy water. So easy for me to avoid. More chances of me going into the ocean water and being attacked by a shark.

All valid points and thanks for the replies. A Saltie can run 24 to 28 kph. So they aren't that slow. Lol. A Nile croc averages between 30 and 35 kph. Crikey.
