i just have to say that i've heard rumors that t leary became a snitch in the end of his life and so many hippies don't know that fact about him, he truly did some great stuff, but, in the end he just wasn't that spiritual, because he got selfish and wanted to save his own skin, thus working w the cia... it is sad, but true-
kayy are you serious? thats bullshit that he would do that to his fellow Beats. OP no i havent read that book but i intend to. I have however read High Preist and The Psycedelic Experience.
right now i am reading The Politics Of Ectasy i plan to read The Psychadelic Experience and some other books by Leary when i am done
havent read any of them but just looked up him and abbie hoffman in the campus library and found two books..ill tell you what I think
It is true that Leary did have to rat out somebody, but it was cause the feds put so much pressure on him. He was going to go to jail for a long time over a bit of weed. It's what the feds do to everyone. They lean on you until you sqwark by threatening you and your family. That's American justice. It wasn't near the end of his life at all. And it's not an evil rumor, it's a known fact, and knowing it made little difference to all those who knew and loved Leary. If that's the worst thing people can say about Leary, it won't ever stand up to what that man did on just an average day. He risked his career, then his sanity, then his freedom to spread the gospel of LSD. Leary was about freedom of mind. He saw the programming, the veil that lay upon us all, and tore it off our faces and showed us the light that unites everyone and everything. For that he is a God among mortals. An angel with a devilish grin! Timothy leary’s dead. No, no, no, no, he’s outside looking in. Timothy leary’s dead. No, no, no, no, he’s outside looking in. Along the coast you’ll hear them boast About a light they say that shines so clear. So raise your glass, we’ll drink a toast To the little man who sells you thrills along the pier. He’ll take you up, he’ll bring you down, He’ll plant your feet back firmly on the ground. He flies so high, he swoops so low, He knows exactly which way he’s gonna go. Timothy leary. timothy leary. I've read "Turn on Tune in Drop out, Psychedelic Experience, The Delicious Grace of Moving Ones Hand, and I'm in the middle of Exo-psychology right now. Personally I'd say that Exo-Psychology is far and away his most powerful peice of work, at least that I've read. I've heard people say that his eight level diagram on consiousness is elitest but after reading about the idea, just like the rest of his books, the words fit so tightly into the mold of what the world and the universe appear to be to my present state of consiousness that it's really hard not to side with him, especially after dosing with LSD for my first time. What a precious drug LSD really is, I feel like bowing my head sometimes just at the recurrent thought of my trip.
