Today I brought a relative to a major hospital centre for a visit and got in without questions until we entered the actual ward where after the last row of hand sanitizer the nurses objected about my lack of footwear, so i whipped out my battered flip flops from the sack, "because you know, it is for your safety, we are in the midst of a pandemic", no prob, but i wonder how many people are sanitizing their footwear, nurses. One should never argue too much with people getting emotional or in a position f responsibility. and beside that the pandemic is going on but here we got 2 new cases out of a population of 350k, 300 new cases among 61 million people, I was more concerned about road accidents while driving back and forth than catching the bug. It has to be said that everyone involved kept their cool and no one freaked out. So far people here are for the most part willing to take the hassle of observing all the prescriptions but I doubt that this situation will be sustainable in the long run. not seeing people's faces brings a HUGE psychological burden, our brains are wired to spot and deal with human faces and it is more than a bit weird having to evaluate other people's feelings from the eyes only. They say this is the new normal, fuck no this is not even remotely "normal" you stupid assholes. This is a freaking emergency and emergency cannot go on indefinitely. Everyone is surprised by the high general level of discipline and complying and this thing is both awesome and terrible. Awesome because this means civilization and discipline ; terrible because it may also hint to a population that accepts a level of control that other past generations would have never accepted. I don't know if I have to smile or start concerning. But I think that in a matter of months if things don't set back to normal the general patience will wear off and then the man will have to deal with something too big to be handled. For one, even the the oinkers began complaining about their new role of guardians, and quite outspokenly so. Apparently they are feeling shame about their duty in this "new normal" and I have reports of police forces refusing to enforce the rules in front of crowds. I think they are just scared and also tired themselves of this nightmarish "normality". They are humans too, more or less. I don't want to give a hard time to medical professionals though. They are a bunch that only deserves respect here.
My judgement is the authority for me over all monkedy monks. I stay away from them when possible, and they had best do the same. In many cases, they fall short of earning much respect.
