I don't have to worry being a Brit and all. But some day you will need to convince somebody. Could you?
Not many Brits around this summer with tans, I'm off for a sun bed sesh later this week actually just for the vitamin D alone!
Hmm , I'm British born , always lived here. And 3/8th by blood.: ) But people always say "Hmm u arent from here originally..." Looks , psychology+surname , I couldnt pass for Brit one bit. I've got black hair , SE Euro features + skin which tans pale to Slavic sallow. Still ,atleast I dont look like a Kalderashi... ( anyone see that on TV?)
I probably could but then my passport is British and I have lived most of my life here... Hilariously, one afternoon a couple of months ago I bumped into a girl I've known a couple of years and went for a beer.. When I told her I was off to germany in a few days she asked if I was going to see my family etc.. I then told her my family (for the most part) and myself were from the UK and she looked deadly embarressed. I took no offence but all the time I've known her and despite all the times we've hung out and friends we share, she thought I was German? My town/peers are very international, half my mates are from all over the shop and I rarely have British gfs but I thought I was pretty obviously english. Obviously not...
I've lived here for over four years now and my accent is still very clearly non-British. So just because of that, no I couldn't.
no way. at least not to an actual pommy. I've got some phrases down, though. "would you care for a spo' o' wa'er?" for example.
wtf is that? When I was travelling with an american girl I asked her what she fancied eating that night and she cracked up... Apparently using fancy in that sense is hilarious D'ya fancy a cuppa?
You could pretend you have that mental disorder where you have to put on a foreign accent! And I wouldn't worry about anyone contradicting you, Kozmic. You're hardcore. One bitchslap will put them into line
Hey wow, you almost made me sound cool there.. Cheers. :cheers2: I quite like my accent though so I don't mind, and at work it used to be the best ice breaker when people would start asking me the origins of it. So it's all good. I'll go make myself a cup of tea now and read Heat..
He's been pretty famous over here for years and so I wasn't that suprised when I heard he was doing an american series, I just thought he'd keep his normal english accent.. First time I ever watched House I was shocked at his american impression- it doesn't sound perfect either IMO..
