My mom told me how when she was a kid, she and her girlfriends at a sleepover prank called some guy's house and asked for him when his wife answered and when he wasn't home, they said to let him know Bubbles called and had a wonderful time. Bet that guy caught hell when he did get home!

This was my favorite: pick a random number, call, and ask "is Bill in?" Do it again the next night, and then again, until whoever you are calling gets mad. Then on the next night, call and say "Hi, Bill here. Do I have any messages?"

I used to do the alphabet one. You would try to get through the whole alphabet before the person hung up on you. No matter what they said, you would just have to keep saying a letter.

god when i was 7 my best friend and i crank called her aunts house....when she didn't answer we left a message saying we were the Sally Jesse Raphael Show, and we'd heard they were having marital problems and were interested in having them on our show.

    man we laughed so hard.
    don't judge me, we were 7.....for 7 that's genius.

by the way, this reminds me of when i was in telemarketing, i called this one place, and asked for this guy by his first name and the chick who answered was like "Listen bitch, why don't you get out of our lives?? We have KIDS together!! Get over him!" *click*

oh man, i felt sorry for that woman and her cheating husband.

~ my friend and i would pick names out of the phone book and when they answered we would say is this so and so and when they said yes we would tell them that we were calling to deliver a singing telegram and then sing a song, always when we finished we would make up a name to who sent it to them,,of course they did not know the sender and then sometimes they would hang up and sometimes they would say thank you.

Last year my friends and I made prank calls to our own houses from a friend's phone. Don't really remember them, but good times were had. I also wanted to call this pizza delivery company (their commercial on the radio makes it impossible to forget the number...here's a tip, to get people to REALLY remember your number, put it in a song!) and have them deliver a pizza to our friend's apartment cuz we knew he'd be stoned and we knew he'd take it. Too bad we didn't, that would've been a good useful prank.

My home number is blocked so I can prank call if I wanted to but I'm a bit over that now.

The last time me and a friend did it was still in high school. We called and I left a message that I was calling from the escort agency and we needed a payment of 300 dollars before we could send a girl over to his place.

the best part...his dad was the one who heard the message.

i remember plenty of times pickin up the phone and hearing breating and no one saying anything, and the occassional suppressed giggles in the background. that was ages ago back when i was in high school.

when i was in grade school we used to have party lines where i was growing up out in the boonies. that means all the phones on that line were connected all the time. instead of having a number you had a different number or combination of rings, and anyone on the line could pick up their phone and listen in on whatever anyone else was saying. we had a lot of defacto confrence calls that way too. everybody could just pick up their phones and talk to each other after calling one of them.

heck of a lot more fun then 'crank' calls. some of the phones did have cranks on the side of them, but by then they all had batteries, these huge single cells, each about like the size of a beer can, tow of them. so instead of having to turn the crank you could just push the little black button that did the same thing.

I met a boyfriend from a prank call once. I was 16 and he dialed my number randomly and I thought he was hilarious. So I *69ed him (heh) and we talked and made plans to meet at the mall.

    That was fun.

Also this thread is from 2006 so its actually been a really long time since one could make prank calls

    ^ Cute!

Some friends and I found a "Mr. Stoner" in the phone book once, called up and asked for him. That was enough, we thought it was hilarious. I look back and think, what?

i don't think caller ID was really that universal back when this thread was made. i was working at a pizza place at the time and we used to get pranked daily. and we couldn't do anything about it because we didn't have caller ID.

it still happens occasionally. my friend had a prank voicemail just a few years ago. it was just some girls singing a song (we later learned that the song was from spongebob), but at one point instead of continuing the song they just said ****** about 10 times in a row and hung up.
