Here's one I cannot figure out. I hit control panel
    internet options
    Homepage
I change the address that I want as a default
Hit apply or OK on the bottom
and after awhile the thing defaults
    back to
    about.com ???

Also I have pop ups prevented and I'm still getting crap from time to time :(

is it about.com or about:blank, the later is a result of 'use blank' settings (my homepage)

Sounds like homepage hijacker to me, get Adaware or Spybot.... but if you REALLY wanna do yourself (and your friends) a favor, get FireFox!

I use Pest Patrol. It is kinda slow loading on my comp. 1.1gig AMD, but it gets the job done.

    Is firefox better?

In my opinoin Firefox blows Internet Explorer out of the water. It doesn't use ActiveX controls, which is what most sites use to install spyware onto your system. I believe it to be a much safer alternative to IE which is loaded with vulnerabilities since it is still the most used browser. Here are a few websites which compare Internet Explorer and Firefox. I wasn't bias in choosing which ones I put on here. I just picked the first results that I came up with from google.

I think the choice is pretty obvious, but I'll let you decide.

    Oh cool, thanx.

I thought for a minunte that FireFox was an adware/spyware removal tool, like pest patrol.

I might check it out. Currently, I use IE6, and SlimBrowser. SlimBrowser has quite a few good options that IE doesn't. Can't Bill Gates do anything right?
