Try to come to China and go barefeet . That would be interesting. Want to visit me in Harbin (Haerbin)China? You'd be running towards the nearest store, vying for the first pair of shoes you could find, if your feet did not freeze off first. In other words, it is called being practical!

 

I think it is very "unhippie" like to shop at Wendys, K-mart and Walmart. You are selling out to "the man". Hypocritical asshole...

Hippie is not defined by what you wear, jeez. My point is complaining about not being able to go barefoot in some public places is horribly not pragmatic in the slightest.

And no, most people who wear shoes don't have deformed feet. Where is this logic even coming from? I never wear shoes if I'm going outside in my own yard in the summer but if you can't admit the fact walking on the ground 1. makes you feet dirty, 2. makes them extremely calloused, well then I don't know.

Point is maybe you should buy a pair of shoes, or at least sandals, what do you wear to work.

And trust me, most people in Africa do want shoes. Only people in western countries who get to go home to their swanky homes with heating and running water and can take showers and have well looked after towns and cities make an issue of not wearing shoes.

If you want to go barefoot in wal mart, you are not a hippy. hippys dont go to walmart unless its to protest.

If you want to go barefoot period, you are not necessarily a hippy. consequently, you can also be a hippy and wear shoes at the same time.

the only point i am really biased about: WASH THEM BARE FEET!!!

If you come in my restaurant lookin like Pigpen from Charlie Brown I will send you away. thats nasty, tracking up my floor like that. WHat if my other customers see your gross nasty dirtfeet? It is unappetizing. Clean bare feet are OK in certain circumstances.. Dirty bare feet are unappealing and therefore unacceptable to anyone except those who have dirty feet. That is a huge minority so those people can fuck off till they wash their nasty feet.

Not to mention lawsuit implications. It may not be illegal to go barefoot in stores and shit, but that does not mean that it isn't against company policy, and the company has every right to refuse your business for whatever reason they want.
