As i walk down the beach i cant help but to notice that every day the ocean water which was once blue, crystal blue is turning darker. Every morning i pick up more and more trash along the beach. I cant even begin to emagine how the fish and other sealife are able to live because of this. The sealife didnt do anything to desrve this! There innocent blood stains the gulf beaches. Millions of people visit the florida beaches yearly, with all of those people someone could help the innocent, someone could take 5 minutes out of there busy life to pick up there trash instead of standing there watching it roll into the ocean. I couldnt emagine if I was a fish in the ocean....
Indeed pollution of the sea is a disaster. Have you heard of fishing techniques some fishers use? A boat launches a huge net wich grabs the bottom of the sea and then pulls it. It then scrapes everything... as if for hunting we'd cut down an entire portion of forest just to get a couple of deers...
Its really sad. And whats even sadder is that most people tend to ignore what is being done to our environment. The few people that do care, like us, are outnumbered by others who would rather look away and "pretend" nothing is happening, that ecosystems arent being destroyed, that animals arent dying. I just pray that the mainstream public wakes up to the destruction that we as humans are causing...I hope people DO something about it before its too late. Sandyisland, I think its great you pick up trash on the beach. A lot of people would choose to ignore that too. What else can we do to create change?
I like the old "be the change you want to see" theory. There have been many times that I'd see trash scattered, get a bag out of the car and start picking up some of it only to look around to see that other people noticed and started doing the same.
The beaches are the end of the track. This is where kinetic energy reaches its climax. Heavier than water objects are thus lodged.
So true, I was swimming in the ocean [I live in Florida on the East coast] and I found wrapped around my foot a plastic bag, I grabbed it and started walking on the beach picking up Mcdonalds cups and bags, and just anything imaginable, and just through them away! I mean there was a trash can just seconds away from the trash.
Go to New Jersey there are hypodermic Needles everywhere. But it seems as though the fishes and such in the deep ocean are fine with it. And if anyone brings up whales beaching their selves.. there is a theory that its Submarines that use the earth to send radio messages and such causing that.
With all our continued consumption of most anything, we support a malevolent political, economic, industrial, and agricultural system that will eventually kill the earth. Almost everyone in our society does to some extent. Want to do something about it, really? "Cast your whole vote, not a strip of paper merely, but your whole influence." (H.D. Thoreau) Stop paying money to the system that supports these things and the destruction will end if enough do the same.
Other fishermen use dynamite and cyanide. What a total waste! It's a good thing these practices have been outlawed. Now I think we need to work on sanctions against overfishing. http://blog.babyganics.com/
