I'm going to the gathering in about a week and a half. And I'd like to be prepared when I get there. Whenever I go to a gathering, there's always a period of a few days when I don't really know what the conditions are like. People are always ready to give advice, but it's hard to seperate fact from rumor, and I swear that some people enjoy fucking with people who just got there. So I've got a few questions for anyone who's familiar with camping in WV. Basicaly, what should I worry about? What is the temperature range? What kinds of nasty insects and infectious microbes are running around, and how do I protect myself from them? Are there any sticky things that grow on the ground, and what do they look like? That kinda stuff. What do I need to know to be happy in the woods in WV?
its the appalachions,(katuah region), same conditions the entire area,, bring rain gear,, expect mostly cool nights (some nights could be in the low 50's to high 40's)and low to mid 80 days..infectious microbes?/ not if ya drink hawkers water.. bugs?? there everywhere... HOT DAMN YEE HAW,, WE GOIN TO WEST VIRGINIA...
Ticks, chiggers, copperhead and rattle snakes, poison ivy and poison oak, drunken rednecks. just a few mosquitos. Possible black bears, bobcats,an occasional skunk, snapping turtles. And then there's Bigfoot and Mothman. Can't think of too much else to make you itch or scare you.
AHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA,, hell half them wouldnt have shit to do with a few thousand dirty hippies,, so id say david is home free...
id bring ya walkin shoes as well,, looks like a mile or more hike in with roughly a 400 to 800 foot elevation climb (depending on where ya camp an where ya park)... http://www.ashevillecommunity.org/hawker/rainbow/2005images/Lower_Glady_3x3_4.jpg
man ya think we been there or what but we will ask this weekend fer ya,,, hhb says' dumbass was that one of them rhetorical questions,,,," he says ..." bikes would trash the rocks oon the site, yadda yadda leave a bad name...but prolly in the general area ya could just dont wear ya fukkin tyedye doin it"..... says " fukkin google it n tell folks, look at topo do some research digger... ya turnin into a bliss ninny already?? "
From what I've seen at past Rainbows, bikes just get in the way, mostly. Your way and others too. Just another big thing to drag around...
ticks and chiggers are biting insects ...wear covering clothing in woods naked is beautifull but vulnerable ....the indians didnt killnskin dear spend time curingnstiching for nothing cus it took effort
