concerened about my bud...need help asap..is this mold?

i need to know...because if it is i'm just gonna throw these nugs out and get a new batch..i'm kinda bummed(pissed actually) because i stored it for months in a jar, 1 year to be exact and it was fine and the highs awesome at times,just today i found it..the cotton thing was tiny,but it was just on the stem..on the end... then 2 months later now i found one siimilar white thing on the bud....someone on another forum said it isn't possibly mold but could be anything from lint to something else..the smoke itself is fine i smoked it about 3 weeks ago(the other parts of the bud or some of it)..but i'm just curious if i should just toss it....i'm bummed because i can't hook up for maybe another month because ineed to save some money and i was planning on saving this for as long as i could as it's the only stash i have..

 

When you're trying to store your bud for a lengthy period I find placing it in a mason jar and then in the fridge to work wonders.

I think you'd know if it was mould if it was..

 

yeah i stored it in a jar...and it's been fine...it's just those 2 little white things i found within 2 months....i'm just wondering if it IS mold or if i should be concerned by it..

 

That's why you fridge it, constant temperature.
Nah I wouldn't be concerned about it. If it is mould it's not going to hurt you.

 

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Was the bud grown outdoors? Could be little bits of spider webs or something. Maybe you didn't notice the second one at first because you weren't looking for it.

If you're worried, just cut out the "bad" parts and smoke the rest of it.

 

i can't tell if it was grown indoors or outdoors,i DO know for a fact that it is a hybrid strain though because of it's
effects,mostly sativa with some indica properties...don't know if that has anything to do with the growing process though,the weed high though can be pretty amazing though,i've just never had this happen on bud i've had...and i've stored it just as long before.The two white things were tiny,and happened not at the same time but a couple months from each other like i said..thanks for the response man...i appreciate it

 

If it took a whole year to notice this white stuff I bet it is not mold. Watch it for a few days and see if it gets bigger. It will be mold if it does. I don't think the freezer is necessary and could even knock trichomes off the bud and make it less potent. Room temperature is fine because THC is stable at temperatures well beyond that. That is why people can cook with it and it still works.

Just keep in a dark area in a glass jar with an air tight lid and it will be good for a long time.

If you do have mold it is because it was not dried properly. I have seen it many times because water is a good deal of the weight. Like an oz will become 15 grams even when it is almost dry. So for a bad dealer it is easy to trick people. But like I said I doubt after a year it is mold you would notice it quicker then that. A pic would be helpful if your still curious.

 

thanks man^.. this is the bud right here....i didn't find any on these,anyway..i just wanna make sure what i have is still smokeable and i'm not taking a risk smoking it or whatever....no the white didn't get bigger...it just appeared sporadically on those two areas out of nowhere..very small though,almost speck like..anyway here's the pic of some of it,at least some of the ones i didn't find it on[/IMG]

again thanks....this is what i've been doing for awhile...that's why i'm surprised those two small white things came up....like i said though the high is good and all...i'll watch to see if it gets bigger like you said though...thus far no..

 

I would just get rid of the part that looks fucked up. Maybe it's psychedelic mold

Mold can happen storing weed for long term I can never keep it that long but it can destroy your weed if it totally consumes it that's not the way it seems to be tho fortunately.

 

In that case you should not get rid of it but eat it :biggrin:
