Let's think about these words and their meanings. Do you know what attracts you, repels you and polarizes you and why? and what you do in the face of them?.....It could be as simple as an avatar....Some repel me so much, that I don't even want to talk to whoever it is that has that avatar, without even knowing them....as I will usually avoid that which repels me......as that already has spoken to me, like the cover of a book.....It is a feeling I get in the pit of my stomach, and there may be no rhyme or reason for it......When I am attracted to something, that is easy...i want to be near that something and if I feel polarized, i feel the need to leave and find a more unpolarizing place to be within myself....

This is not a religious topic, but a philosophical one, I think, and I did not know where else to open this discussion.....

    Hi, thedope.... :)

Sometimes, it can be for a psychological reason why somethinng repels someone.....For instance, my mother hated the color lavender or purple...and I never understood why....but it was her assoication to it, after her mother died, and she last saw her mother in a lavender dress in a coffin, so that is why the color repelled her...it never did before her mom died.........and in which case, we are dealing with psycological issues and associations, too......

I never understood that, but have experienced some of the same feelings myself about some things in the last few years, so I understand that now......I have no bad associations to any colors so i am not repelled by any of them, thank goodness, since I work with color.....

kindness attracts me....a genuine kindess without any motivation of manipulation.....

I have been thinking alot about all of this lately, and will add more, as the thoughts enter my head on this subject.

Some voices are soothing and comforting, and it is sound and not sight that can attract and make one feel at ease. Stan has the gift, of a very reassuring, comforting voice....when he is not angry about something and yelling into the air, in which case, I just want to block my ears and not hear at all, as that is repelling to me...any loudness or anger in a tone.....so sound is very important.

I can write with a loud tone at times, but my voice in sound is never loud...My lungs must not be very big..... :D

My dad had a wonderful, soothing voice which comforted me and made me feel safe and loved...my mother's on the other hand was like something on a chalkboard....and it repelled me to ever really listening to her in the momen and having a back and forth conversation with depth, even though I would hear EVERYTHING she said, and still reflect on things she said all of the time...........which is sad that i would feel that way when it was happening.....she had much to say that made sense and i should have listened....but i don;t think she ever found her real voice.....which is very sad......

I can handle gruff.....thedope....and I sense that you are very sweet soul.

Stan can have a very loud, big voice, and if he is outside yelling for some animal to come home, and is getting angry and aggravated...i have to tell him to keep it down, or people half a mile away or farther can hear.....and seriously, they can.

But I think I am referring to tone here, more than loudness.

Back when I was full face into New Agie stuff, there was this exercise dealing with judgment of others. I found it to be useful so it's a concept I kept as part of my own evolving 'truth'.

It required one to list 3 good things and 3 bad things about a parent.

Next, we were told to look at a picture found in a magazine of a total stranger (not someone famous) and do the same thing. List 3 positive and negative things about that person. Make it up!

Spoiler alert.. if you haven't tried this and wish to do so... Don't read further down the page until you've made the above lists.

    .

Any common themes from the parent list and the stranger's list is YOUR stuff. For instance, if you listed your mother as being cheerful. And you thought the stranger had the face of someone usually happy. Then.. odds are that happiness is part of your makeup and you see it in others.

If you listed your father as being rigid... and you listed the stranger as being straight-laced then things like being open-minded may be one of your challenges.

What we see in others.. is usually merely ourselves in the form of a mirror. Either for a positive or a negative response. They may or may not have the attribute that you see.

Blu3, not always...not always...iwish you could package that up in a nice little neat box to justify things to yourself.

Sometimes people torment others for no reason at all.

I was in a rush to get out with the dogs before, but judgement was not what I am talking about at all....
There are many determining facotrrs that can come into things...of course, what you said can be a determining factor also.....
I love both of my parents and think them both wonderful....I miss my mom and wish she was still here...i just meant before that I understand alot of things better now then I did before about her way of communicating.
Maybe that was a poor example. I have trouble sometimes getting my points across.....

Is that avatar you? You have a kind face if it is, and nice to meet you! :)

Great to meet you, too, Miss Glow! Lovely compliment, thank you. Kindness is right up there on my list of important things for a life well-lived. If you see it in my face, that probably means that it is resides within you, as well. Sorry if I misunderstood your post. 'Tis likely a lack of caffeine was the culprit. At any rate... I'm often confused. :)

We're all travelers.. muddling our way thru. Don't you find? Some days I wander about wondering what in the cornbread hell just happened? Other days, I think I have figured out a great deal about life and meaning and why my arms have developed a waggle. ... And then... life says.. 'Oh yeah?? You think you have that figured out??'.. and I have to duck. If I can manage to find humor in any situation, it always gets better and the amount of ducking I have to do decreases mightily.

Laugh more. Love more. easy breezy. I'll work on the tougher stuff tomorrow.

    Pleasant evenin' darlin'.
