Compassion for dying Bernie Madoff

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for his admitted ponzi scheme.

He's 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months.
Side note: Peter Madoff, Bernie’s younger brother, pleaded guilty in 2012 to falsifying records at the Madoff investment firm, and to conspiracy to commit securities fraud. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and is due to be released in October 2020.

I've done some soul searching with Bernie's request, but have come to the conclusion that he should die in prison. Roaming around in his home would probably allow him to mail letters or contact individuals other than using the internet for instructions where to put his hidden money around the world for his family.

I guess The Donald could always say and point
"Bernie.......you're pardoned "

 

I would be all for compassion, except other prisoners don't get out of prison when they're terminally ill.

 

Release him and let him live on food stamps and Medicaid.

 

there are medium security hospice care for inmates, I believe the USA has over 75 of them. to enter it they must sign a DNR to go into it. They get to speak with people, have human contact and have pain management, etc. Other inmates also volunteer there, I guess, perhaps Madoff might be faking it. Who knows? But he could go to one, but I suppose he doesn’t want to sign a DNR, do not resuscitate.

 

This reminds me of the whole Ivan Milat thing all over again.
Bloke was in and out of jail due to terminal cancer.
Bloke died in jail.

Everyone didn't bother about being compassionate. Instead they all laughed at his death.
