    any hip people still dropping out and farming?? i really want to, but tis alot of work to do all alone, any body know of any communes in america, preferably on the east coast? or some free land somewhere to build a house and some land to grow and raise livestock?

    Communes are still around...sorry I dont know of any on the eastcoast though.

    they are mostly called intentional communities or eco-villages now. A little different than communes, but still based on the back to the land principle. I used to be actively searching for one, but now that I am married I know my wife wouldn't like it much.

    I've got one. It's all gay and all male. No children and no one under 40. Pets stay outside. No food restrictions.

    Other than that we pride ourselves on being all-embracing!
