Does anyone actually buy anything advertised in a TV commercial? I don't. I usually can't remember what the last commercial was about by the time the next one is on. This irritates my wife for some reason. I try to avoid them by quickly switching to Ancient Aliens hoping to see that crazy dude with the hair. Then I try to time it out so that I can switch back to Gilligan's Island, which I hate, just as Gillian's commercial break is ending. The only commercial I can think of at the moment is the M&M one where some girl M&M is doing something and so is the guy one. I don't like it cause the old one where they jumped in the pool of chocolate was better. I was inspired to buy Nutella once by watching the commercial, but it sucked.
Do you get pamphlets in your mailbox from supermarkets & other stores advertising their specials each week ?
Oh man, I hope no Australians come by here. I don't really watch tv, and my email and browser are on lock, I don't get advertised to much. On the radio sometimes. Food advertisements will do it for me if I'm hungry, and I suppose every now and then I could be interested in like an exhibit or something that's advertised on the radio.
i'm pretty sure i do. i buy stuff, and a lot of stuff is advertised in tv commercials, so odds are there is some overlap in the stuff i buy and the stuff that is advertised.
Advertising influences me mainly in making me hate whatever is being advertised and avoid buying it. So advertising can make me aware that a product exists, but I can't recall too many times that I wanted to buy a product because of the advertising. I've definitely seen ads that piss me off and make make me consciously avoid products. Packaging and names can influence me to some degree though. If a product has a really gross name and ugly packaging, I'll sometimes not buy it just because it is so repulsive.
I regard all commercials as misleading bullshit unless I know otherwise, so I try hard to avoid them. I hate people who try to deliver a targeted ad to me, based on their snooping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You could say I buy the products despite the commercials..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IZqRdznPs8"]Coors Light Love Train Commercial - YouTube Hotwater
I don't watch too much tv, but I guess my roommate had something on the other day and I caught this commercial then went out and bought toaster strudels... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR0AUXiBSi8"]Hans Strudel Pillsbury Toaster's Strudel TV Commercial Super Bowl 2014 - YouTube
I don't watch commercials, I DVR or use services which provide no commercials and ignore ads everywhere else - I am sure some of the things I own were advertized somewhere but I buy what I need not what someone else tries to convince me to buy
I chose a dentist because he's the only dentist in the area that bothers with tv advertisements and he spoke directly to my fear of dentistry in his commercial. Other than that, no. I turn commercials down or off. I also don't eat processed food so food commercials are pretty wasted on me. I'm pretty conscientious of ingredients so when choosing shampoo and toothpaste and stuff like that in more likely to be influenced by the ingredient list.
I enjoy the more funny commercials but I make it a point not to buy it. So I find Irminsul's comment about her buying Pepsi very honest but yeah, to also be honest, I find that a pity... If it's really your fav brand of coke because of the taste that's a good reason. I have caught my mind once after noticing Pepsi that I would buy that rather than Coca cola because those adds are everywhere so the brand name and their fake happiness that they like to be associated with it is forced down your throat... but to simply buy the next big brand name instead just because of that would be too silly of course. I buy a bottle of coke every now and then, it's tastes pretty good and is almost €1 cheaper a liter compared to those 2.
