Hey yall, I want to start the dreading process but my hair is short. Its about an inch. I was thinking of just washing it with water, maybe baking soda every once and awhile and also using a method I saw on youtube to tease the hair. You take the palm of your hand and rub it all over your scalp, clockwise and counterclockwise, to encourage the hair to grow in more directions. Anyone with experience think that this is a sufficient combination for this length of hair?? Is it pointless to even put effort into it at this length or is it more effective to wait for more length??

can hair even get knotty at only one inch??
I've never had dreads, know nothing about hair care and am no help, but.. one inch??
Perhaps someone with dreading experience can answer this question for all of us.. it seems more common sense to wait for more length but I am no expert..

Does not understand why this post was posted.

One inch hair can dread. It'll look shit though.

Will not work how you want it to.

Also, just pulling the roots won't make anything grow faster, it's wishful thinking.

Wait til it's 3 to 5 inches, then you can just about manage to backcomb it into dreads, they'll all fall to bits without maintenance, but it'll be a starting point.

Putting much effort into it now won't do all that much until it's longer.
However just stopping doing anything now and letting it grow at the same time will yield some pretty awesome results by the time you even get to a length worth backcombing.

So if I was you, I'd just start letting it grow out whilst letting the natural method take its place.

Yeah, thats what I am saying. Letting it grow out while not combing or shampooing. Was just asking if that was sufficient.
