i do a ba majoring in creative writing and literary studies... i hope to perhaps write reviews or something for cash to begin with - travel writing would be great...and i agree with louis menand's views on the humanities industry...i mean it was once the most integral, academic kindof degree for the learned people, and now people belittle it...i would like the humanities to once again have the respect it deserves.
i think writing definitely has the ability to make change - all history is written, right? if it was not written it would cease to exist...and history is how we learn from our mistakes and instill pride and respect and so forth into our countries... however, there needs to be a correct perspective to ensure a "good history"...writing is also influential, and people who read learn more...learning is heightening our awareness and our ability to progress in positive direction ( sorry this is a little messy - im just winging some thoughts at the mo)

I haven't decided between kinder-4th grade teaching and residential architecture.
First of all, kids always need a good teacher, and I'm cool with kids, then as for architecture, I think the world desperatly needs new living structures, that don't demand as much out of the environment.

I am majoring in cultural anthropology.

As for what occupation can change the world, that's all a matter of opinion... Of course, it's quite easy to get pessimistic about whether anyone can really do all that much to change the world for the better, all you can really hope to do is change a few people's lives for the better...

    Mah edgeamukashun iz so importunt.

    hahaha... :p

In total honesty, I believe Education to be the key occupation, that enables the possibilties of all others. I want to be a teacher, so that I can have a positive influence on the youth, who will in turn influence the rest of the world.

Doctors and lawyers and the rest all have to be educated at some point. Why it is that Educators are not valued and respected in America is completely baffling to me. PAY US MORE, DAMMIT :p

I'm not in college yet.. but when I do go I'll be dual majoring in international relations (with a focus on either Latin America or Europe) and either public relations (for a journalism degree), economics (for a business type degree), or political science (for a pre-lawish type degree). I'll also be minoring in linguistics or romance languages... I've got a full plate laid out for me for college =P

Oh yeah... and the most important job I think a person can have is to be a good parent. Nothing can top the importance of that job.

majored in german, minored in environmental science and computer science.

i think there are lots of important occupations out there, education being a very important - and underappreciated as ian said! - one. occupations in the medical field are also infinitely important. i am myself planning to attend law school to practice environmental law and i think this is an extremely important aspect of our american life. our environment needs HELP and i am a huge fan of working from the inside, through the law system, to work out problems in this country, so environmental law was the absolute best choice for me :)

I'm major in biology and I sort of have two focus's right now: ecology and genetics.

I also am minoring in chemistry but may have to drop it since the qualatative analysis professor is supposed to suck here.
