Collecting on a bet , gamble, or wager

Other than Jane's £! weekly lottery ticket (when she remembers to buy it ), none of our family have any interest in gambling.

But their is a funny story.
In her younger days (around 1925), my late mother worked at a hotel as the cashier. Part of her daily job on her way to the bank was placing the hotel customer bets at the betting shop (bookmakers shop in those days), collecting the previous days winnings at the same time.
Being before the days of calculators, she could add up in her head faster than any machine, so she quickly realised that the only winner was the betting shop.
Other than when a customer placed a large bet on an outsider, she simply kept all the money and paid the winnings.
Every month her profit was in excess of her salary.

 

I don't gamble; I used up all of my good luck when I met my mate.
I know that was luck; my karma sure as hell isn't that good.

It's true, I also have to constantly make unnecessary movements, that someone gave you what they should give...
so I try not to mess with such a person.
I often place bets, usually bet on the แทงบอล that my brother told me about. And I have some friends who also like to bet, but they do it thoughtlessly and too gamely. Previously, they often borrowed money from me in order to compensate for their losses, and at first I helped them, but then I stopped doing this, as they less and less often stopped paying me these debts... I was very stressed out, but I don't hold a grudge against them now. I hope they will get rid of such attraction .
