Close. It has refined sugar in it. Sugar uses animal products in the refining process, most notably Bone Char in the whitening process.

So pretty much anything containing refined sugar (AKA the white death) is not vegan.

Thanks. How do you tell if what you are consuming has "refined" sugar? It doesn't specify on the label. Would anything with "high fructose corn syrup" be refined sugar?

vedgetarian or not, Im not sure I would go so far as to call it food.

a common ingredient in all colas is phosphoric acid, also the main ingredient rust remover whcich is used in automotive body repair. The pop concetrate they get at bottling factoreis is so caustic it will burn skin, and workers have to wear proetecive clothing to work with it.

i dont know about the sugar, wish i did

i try to avoid fructose corn syrup regardless, i hear its bad for you and i also heard somehow the corn companies make political donations to a dem. or republican party in exchange for something or other and that is the reason we have so much excess corn and why this product got created....

I think that evaporated cane juice is better...I know that's what is used in many organic products...I drink Honest Tea and that's in that...

i've heard that the bone char method is not always used? that it depends on the individual refineries or something like that? not that i want to really eat it anymore anyway but sometimes i have to, but can someone clear this up for me?

ok, so which refineries don't use bone char for whitening? What are the odds?

OK, let's look at it another way...

Question: a crackhead shoots you in the chest with a 9mm and steals your wallet and your keys. Are you more worried about getting your credit cards back or getting your car back?

Answer: You don't care, you're dead.

Sugar/corn syrup... bone char/no bone char... phosphoric acid/whatever...

    It's all death.

I care. I love coke. I know how unhealthy it is though ~ trying to break the habit.

I've also read that some filtered water is also filtered through bone something or other....maybe it was bone char. It was in an article about how it is almost impossible to be completely vegan in this world but then it's not about rules but rather doing as much as possible with what we are given to boycott cruelty.

exactly right :) it is impossible to be completely 'correct' in your living. do what you can, find out the facts (as opposed to rumours) and make your choices from there.

usually sugar is from bone char, but beet sugar is made differently.
high fructose corn syrup is exactly that, a sweet syrup from corn. Usually the two are used in tandem.

i hate this kind of attitude. she likes coke and yes she knows its bad for her, she has already stated that she chooses this option so why should she get a clue? and not everyone can go organic, so being aware of whats in the mainstream stuff and how its made is important.

did you know coke eats your bones and teeth? That's why I stopped. Ditto Dr. Pepper.

It's got phosphoric acid, which eats your calcium.
