Was sent over here from Skip who says your the best person to ask about these detention centres.

I only have limited knowledge of them in that they are created by the Homeland Security.

Any info. or a site that I should look at would be a great help please.

As a side note I am from England so I am not too familiar with how your country operates. So any abreviations will be lost on me.:cheers2:

The title of this post worried me...I thought pressed_rat was informing us he was IN a detention camp. He hasn't been posting in here for awhile.

a wal-mart could be transformed into a detention facility. As could a sports arena.
I guess you missed Katriina and the superdome... :p

ha thats funny cause there is one I used to think was a prison, In fact if you took a picture of it and set it aside a prison, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Climate controlled, You cant open windows at all..
Sad to cause all the kids that went there were concidered monsters aswell..
It since changed its name. Now its called the _______ Academy and not ________ Middle school.
I think Academy has more a authority over its kids now. Wonder if it had anything to do with changing the name.?

I was flooded in Pittsburgh, I think it was 97.. FEMA did nothing for me, Ok they gave me $600.00, That didnt even cover clothes I lost..
Salvation Army imo gave more assistance... I continue to give to the salvation army because of that..

    Wow.

    So...

we'd better make damned sure that the person holding that power has OUR best interests at heart, eh?

And, not start an argument (again! ;) ),

that's why the President has to be a natural born citizen, who cares more about America than s/he does about another country.

i thought those camps were for a situation where we were fighting right here, on our soil, to contain Prisoners of War,

and for ANY type of National Emergency, like Katrina.

(i'm truly not trying to bait you here ~ i really don't know.)

I always thought that landfills would make good detention facilities. The tall fences with inward slanted fence, all they would need is a few rolls of razor wire and it's good to go.

Evidently, FEMA moves at a snail's pace, awaiting the moment that the disaster becomes a catastrophe, before even raising it's pendulous head to LOOK at the problem.

Either that, or they have to await orders to move into action.

    BTW, Salvation Army RULES!!!
