The article says that due to misogyny and gender biases, people don't take female names hurricanes as seriously. Causing a lack of doomsday preparedness and more fatalities. Seriously, these people get paid to search for sexism around every corner and it's pathetic. Did it ever occur that maybe this is all coincidence anyway? No it's sexism. I know I've bitched about the Counterfeit News Network on here before. But this is the final nail in their credibility coffin for me. CNN is more fringe than Salon, Buzzfeed, and Infowars.
Wouldnt that mean the most sexist people get killed though? "Oh, dont worry, its a chic hurricane, we got 28 days before it gets really angry" 2 days later, OH FUCK!
Irmindul. Hurricane names run alphabetically and yuse to be all female names, now they alternated male - female and alphabetically. Women objected to destruction only for women, so men's names were brought in this is not very inclusive though as it seems they only use English names, and male and female names. What about all the other genders and ethnic backgrounds?
C'mon, Shaman... This makes sense to even an armchair psychologist. Hurricane Dick sounds much more scary then, say, Hurricane Annabelle
What a piss poor society we live in when we have to be gender friendly when naming a storm. It's just ludicrous, enough is enough.
We should name them after Greek Gods, comic book characters and sci-fi villains. This one should be Hurricane Vader.
Let's name them after porn stars. I mean think about it, so many people are screwed by them! Hurricane Khalifa!
Oh shit, I forgot my link in the OP! Durrrrr.... Here it is, sorry about that http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/01/health/female-hurricanes-deadlier-than-male-hurricanes-trnd/index.html
I feel I should mention hurricane's don't have genders. They're just hurricanes. Man assigns gender to non-sentient things for some reason.
