Does/Did any of you make your own cloth daipers? Did you use a flat or a fitted? Did you make AIO's or covers and soakers? What type of material did you use?

I'm gonna switch Sasha over to cloth and I was thinking about trying to make my own. Does anyone have any tips for me? I'm totally clueless.

    Thanks,

    Lena

see if a service will sell some of their retired ones. Don't tell them you will be diapering with them. say dusting/cleaning cloths.
I nabbed covers at resale shops, including Nikkys.

my mum used to use toweling with me and my brothers.

when you wash them, its best to rinse and soak and then chuck them in the machine, and di it in the garden so youre not polluting the waterways, but rather fertilising your plants

I used cloth with my last child and will be using them with this baby as well. I started out using prefolds for the first few months because he was cloth diapered from the time he was 9 days old then I moved to fitted diapers with covers. I also had a a few AIOs for the convience of taking them out on trips but I will have to say that even though I like the prints and convinence of the fitteds and AIOs... I am a diehard prefolds and covers user. LOL

As for making them yourself, you can find free diaper patterns all over the net... here is one (http://www.diapersewing.com/) that has instructions for almost everything. LOL I really like using hemp fleece or french terry for the absorbance factor. Hemp french terry is just as absorbant as hemp fleece but is thinner... less bulk. Sorry if this a vague answer to your question.. feel free to pm me and I will go into better details. I just don't want to write a novel on here. LOL

i used cloth diapers for my 2 babes and made them out of nice soft flannel. they were somewhat fitted with velcro tab closure and flannel covered elastic to make them fit nice and snug.
