just curious as to how some of you manage cloth and being on the road. do any of you handwash is there any speciel solution you might use? well probobly be able to launder every 3-4 days just curious how others might do it.
We rough rinsed them in gas station toilet. Then put them in a closed pail with a little bleach water to soak until we got somewhere that we could wash up right. It took a fair stock of changes to be traveling. If you have to you can hand wash in sink. Soap for first wash, bleach water for 2nd then a really good rinse. Then a good hand wash for you. We had a line in the back of the van that we could hang them on. All this was about 500 years ago (grin). Probably some moms and dads with better ideas will show up. Nevertheless, she is 35 now so we did not kill her doing it.
Hi Merrijayne4. I'm too new of a mom yet to have any experience with that one, but i did ask my mother what she used to do and here"s what she did. She packed a diaper bag with a couple dozen flannelettes inside, along with 6 or 7 pairs of rubber pants, some diaper pins, and a few plastic bread bags. She said that anytime she changed someone's diapers, the wet or dirty diaper and if need be, the rubber pants would be put into the plastic bag. When she got to were she was going, usually relatives or close friends, she would put all the dirty diapers into the people's washing machine, wash them, and pin them up on the outdoor clothesline to dry. Mind you that was 30 plus years ago and everyone during that time had babies in cloth diapers, so it was no big deal. However, when i was younger i remember travelling with several families at a time, a caravan of gypsies if you will, and the mothers would stop by laundromats along the way, once a week or so, to wash their children's diapers and things. What a sight that was! Babies running around in rubber pants all over the laundromat and at times, 3 or 4 babies spread out side by side on top of the laundry folding tables getting their pants changed at the same time. Those were definitely fun years! I plan to cloth diaper also when i travel with my kids, but that's sometime away yet. I hope my reply helped.
