What techniques are we all using for cloning? A quick root gel dip ang stick them in a peat plug inside a dome, is all I have been doing with decent results. But I want to know how everyone else is doing it! Please share!

Does anyone innoculate their cloning medium?

    welcome to hip forum......

sure, yeah thats aways a good way. i sometimes keep off the dirt base for til roots develope.. using perlite thats damp, not pooled with water but wet.. =keep moist.. then transfer to moss pads-grow medium . I like the powder not gel. cause I can see it. And where ever it sticks this is where I see roots the quickest.

no doming cause this holds to much moisture, causes leaf rot.

Loam base with lots of perlite 1-1. Cut so have 4-6 good leafs scratch stem then dipped in rooting powder planted and leafs trimmed down placed in shadow of mothers.

Thanks for the response! Without a dome do you have to mist them?

I tried using a mix of MG`s organic choice potting soil and perlite and at the same time transplanted my freshly rooted clones into the same mix. I don`t know why but the rooted babes hated that soil and refused to root into it. I broke down and purchased some bio bizz all mix(I`ve always had amazing results with this product) and replaced the MG with it for the rooted ones but I was scared to remove any medium from the freshly cut clones little pots so I tried adding some liquid myco inoculant to them.

I used soil secrets` earth nectar/earth ambrosia. I don`t really have any experience with this product yet(just bought it), but the company makes it sound very good and safe!

I have used peat plugs, straight perlite, and just vermiculite as well as soil/soilless mediums. I have had the best results with soil/soilless mediums. this last group turned out the healthiest batch so far after using the soil secrets innoculant. 2x2 square pots filled with thick bright white roots. Many people say not to use soil for cloning because it can burn the delicate babies but I`ve never experienced any burn even when cloning directly into bio bizz all-mix. Any specific reason why you strear clear of soil bases?

I used to use peat plugs, but a while back I got an EZclone machine. I usually end up with 90% rooted in 8-10 days . All I have to do is keep the resivoir full and keep an eye out for problems, of which I have had none in over a dozen cycles, way less work, totally worth the investment.

Ive made my own with chicken wire and fish pumps, perlite... probably the best results for myself using this method too, aerated water makes difference..

The earth nectar/earth ambrosia combo innoculant is also designed for auto cloners! It worked serious wonders for my last batch. they went from looking like crap to the healthiest clones I`ve ever produced in a couple of days. Anyway, soil secrets actually recommends it for auto cloning machines! I swear I don`t work for these people! I`ve just been amazed by this product! and it the cheapest innoculant I could find! My clones were pale and wilting 5 days after cutting. I gave them each a 1 tsp dropper of a very dilute mix and the next morning they were all dark green again. three days later had to transplant due to massive roots! And that was in shit soil that killed 4 mature plants when transplanted into it.

cutting a stem ''under water'' in a dish causes water to be sucked into the stem before oxygen and will cut down rooting time and promote a smoother healthier transition for the baby

This is from THE CLONER, the best Commercial Cloner I ever knew.

Use 2" rockwool cubes(or equivalent, even peat with more attention to water content), the ones with the hole.
turn them upside down, poke a hole from the flat side through to the hole.

Clip your cutting, re-clip in water, dip in ANY clone powder or solution, insert through the poked hole untill the stem sticks 1/8 to 1/4 inch out and is exposed into to the manufactured hole. the cutting need be no more than 2-2 1/2 inches. More is a waste. Every soft joint is a clone waiting to happen.

Treat it as you normally would, but watch closley for humidity build up if incased in a dome, as the clones will not be as dependent as usual on the leafs transpiring moisture.

Keep the cubes moist as usual, and in 2 to 7 days root growth will occur in 98 to 100% of the cuttings, assuming you didn't give it an enbolisim with an improper cut.

All will be ready to transplant in 10 days. less, probably.

i supported myself and my two kids growing clone this way once.

    This is not substantiated.

Cutting in water elimanates the chance of an embolism.
If an embolism (an air bubble in the stem which blocks the uptake of moisture and minerals) occurs, the clone dies. Most often, an stem cut in air will not experience an embolisim, in which case there exist no difference in the growth pattern of it and a water cut stem.

But why take chances? Re-cut ALL clones in water.

Cutting stems under water maybe a myth/ only because we are not keeping roses. cannabis does not need water to the head to be pretty. Re cutting a Clone under water just help slow down cell damage.. Cannabis picks up nutrition from its whole stem. and it will root where ever there is substrate to it. all the way around. I have taken cuttings off wilts in the trash can, its gets its hormone and looks pretty ill, keeping giving it water and light and batabing Clone.

It may assist with cloning to get the cutting to water / but new methods suggest less water( peat pad) and hormones (Cutting starter) .. If you have your cutting starter cutting it under water will make no difference since it needs be dipped again in starter gel or powder. I like the powder cause I can see it sticking. I have the feeling the Gels rinse off easier.

your clone pad is moist not soaking wet. If using perlite to clone. you can pick a few litter fuck ups to check during the process. not necessary to pull them out, but you may and then place it back in. With peat pads its good as stuck there: One thing I like about the Gel starters that on a peat pad, you can take some starter with an eye dropper and get it down the stem.

older methods of cloning . Just cut and leave in a cup of water, change water when clouded. This still works. it also takes longer, and they take on yellowing.

you should always move quickly when cloning. have all your things set up before hand.. Dont take a cutting when you have no fully furnished planters to move into. .
