Has les been in any other bands besides these: Sausage Frog Brigade Oyster head primus the holy mackerel
REALY.... i have high ball with the devil by les and they holy mackerel realy good CD non of his other bands are as good as primus they dont even come close
COL. Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains......is a great band Les Claypool Brain (Primus) Buckethead Bernie Worrel (P-Funk)
I am not so high on les lately. He could be doing so much more, but has become a one trick pony with his sound. When he opened for Rush he played Zeps Kashmir on an upright bass note for note. But I will clue those who dig him onto the name of the early metal band he did sessions for. Found in a cheap-o bin, Blind Illusion featured future primus guys backing a metal singer. Just as you get tired of waiting for Les to do something, he throws you one bass riff and makes you wait it out for another while he plays a straight metalhead type line. Nonetheless, Blind Illusion has Les, and it should be mentioned among these. Check it out, or speak up if you have heard it, I would love some other opinions on it!
you know les did the opening credits song for south park? .... johnny was a race car driver... he was goin so goddaaamn fast...
dude i dont know what your talking about les does alot of different shit, ever heard of the reesidents he has coverd some of there song and added his own twist to them,he has many bands each has a different sound, hes done alot of work with other bands
you guys should get the bonnaroo dvd that he's on. i forget which one it is but it also has ween and phil lesh & friends on it. anyway, he plays the first song on the dvd with the flying frog brigade...awesome song and i love that dude with the really long dreads and i have never heard anyone rip it up on a xylophone as good as that one dude could...he was absolutely amazing. then later on he plays in col. claypool's bucket of bernie brains, he's got this crazy outfit on and buckethead is superb as always. seriously check it out.
YEAH that xylophone player kicks ass...he has his own band called "Hairy Ape BMX" and it is awesome......i saw them a WAKARUSA, and it was creepy and hella bassy....an awesome show. the xylophone man, has the best note progressions its a sick band....
I wont argue Les has talent, and can cover anothers songs as well as anyone. I just think all his own work could be more varied based on his talent. How often do you hear him do something of his own that you say, wow, i woulda never known? personally, I just got tired of hearing his plucking riffs after Seas of Cheese went to the masses, and suddenly Les was annointed as THE bassist. Sort of like the Yogi-ism of "noone goes there anymore, its too crowded"
Well considering the new Frog Brigade has a completely different sound than the old one and anything else he has done, and the fact that he plays drums in Electric Apricot I think he's doing some new stuff. Plus Gabby Lala feat. Les is unlike anything most people have ever heard and for some reason everyone seems to hate it but I love it. But as of now my favorite Les project is def. the NEW frog brigade. And then of course Primus is a close second. But he also plays a lot of different basses which I think is cool. I've seen him play 4-string, 5-string, 6-string, 1- string, upright, and some weird ass bass that looked like it came out of a sci-fi movie. And he plays with a bow sometimes too. I'm just really looking forward to Primus at the Vegoose festival this Halloween!! Les in Vegas!
Um, yeah, and I been waiting for him to do something besides covers since Frizzle Fry. Whats that, like, ten-plus years? Sorry, guess I got bored of waiting the better part of most of your lives for Mr.Claypool to do something original.
