    Shafted sunlight sifts and trembles
like rock shuddering in fever or orgasm
and shaking as cold washes her tenderly
    and mortality combs her hair

The circle i fashioned of card board
blue tarps sliver ribbons of tape
crinkles and dries warping in a sunburned sheen
toasting old color out of its skin

    the neighbors of the rocks
the mucky residue of time decomposing
sighs and gaping mouths open wide
to swallow the circle and the sunlight
