Christmas Is Here

Christmas is here! It lurked around the corner for some time and now it's here. Totally unexpected. As every year. Well, since two weeks or so the shops sell gingerbread (I will buy some later this week ). And at the moment -sit down please- they are playing Last Christmas in the radio. That's a little bit too much for me.

After a long night of binge drinking at a local tavern, “Joseph son of David” staggered home and watched an episode of Supernatural on the CW. An angel of the lord Castiel appeared before him and said “Kidnap Mary your neighbors 15 year old Hispanic daughter and conceive in her a son to take as your own” and give him the name Jesús (pronounced hey-sus) because he will represent the best qualities of a decadent people.

That time of the year!

I am getting into the Halloween spirit now, with all things going bump in the night.....lol

 

Yep, 10:29 PM tonight (eastern time) it is officially Fall/Autumn

the stores i shop at are still full of summer's end. i.e. all that orange and black stuff and candy that's shaped to look like parts of dead things.

kids getting their picture taken with jack skellington at the mall and telling him who they'd like to see something naughty done to, or with, as the case may be.

well maybe i exagerate a little about that last. or do i? haven't actually checked.

 

I hope Jesus returns before Christmas. That would be the best gift ever!! The rapture would happen and there would be awesome cars and empty houses all over the place. More resources for everyone who is left. There would be no reason for homelessness anymore. I could go on....

yepp, it's really autumn. I made some chestnut people a couple of days ago, I even carved them a face . I positioned them near a bench in the woods. Yesterday they were gone. That's way people can't have nice things.

from my childhood I remember pumpkin as uneatable sweet and sour stuff. So I'm not a huge fan of it.

Sounds beautiful.....you mean the chestnuts that fall from trees?...and you carved people in something that small?

yepp, chestnuts that fall from trees . Well, I carve simple faces in them. If they are not too dry that works really good. I don't carve whole people in them, but with a few twigs and chestnuts for the head, body, feet etc. you can build people, armies of chestnut people for world domination whoohaahhahaa.

Awesome.....I never saw anyone do that with chestnuts before, and you have photos, too..........maybe a squirrel came along and ate your offerings.....

 

We have only Horse Chestnuts around here after the Chestnut Tree Blight of 1904 which decimated every tree in New England throughout the 20s, 30s, and 40s - The Chestnut tree used to be the most dominant tree throughout this region of the country.

hmm, I don't think so. Imagine you are a squirrel in the woods, surrounded by tons of chestnuts, arcorns and beechnuts. Would you like to eat chestnuts that stink like human ?

Other people build more sophisticated things, like animals and stuff. I just sit on the bench, watch the clouds and poke my knife into chestnuts .

We have a few sweet chestnuts around here, but most are horse chestnuts. Every year some fellas try to roast and eat horse chestnuts .
