Anyone have any plans for making Christmas (or a simular winter gift giving holiday)? I plan on knitting my husband a sweater with a skull and cross-bones on it (from the Pirate issue of Knit1) and if I have enough time, hope to make my son a matching one. I am knitting my bestfriend and her girlfriend matching toques (winter hats for the non-Canadians in the crowd) My youngest sister wants a bag with the Green Bay Packers logo on it (did you know that this is a football team? haha) Am still coming up with ideas for others in my family. Am thinking about making my Math-teacher step-dad a toque with some sort of math formula on it. Anyone else have any ideas? Plans? Project already on the go?
I'm planning on knitting a couple pairs of cozy wool socks and a sweater for my husband. He's been asking for months for socks and keeps telling me how fast his grandmother was at knitting them. Lets see if I can match her skill. Lol. I'm still trying to deceide what to make my nieces and nephews. I'm thinking that I'll make bags for the girls (girls can never have too many purses huh?).
I made a really simple purse for my niece a while back and sewed all these crazy mismatched buttons on it. She loved it and it was so simple. But, this year, I don't know if I will have time to make many gifts. The full time job and long commute is really cutting into my crafty time.
So far I'm just planning on making a few cozy knit beanies and scarves, especially for one of my brothers and his girlfriend, who got me a knitting book for my birthday last year. The problem? I can knit a square and therefore a scarf, but I haven't yet learned how to knit a beanie. I'm trying to find a basic pattern that has explicitly clear directions; anyone have any online resources?
i'm just knitting slippers mainly. they're easy and cosy and pple like them. it's like wearing a hug on your feet. i might knit a sweater for my kiddo, he's really into sweaters since summer's over. any ideas for a size 5-6 boys sweater?
I'm sick of making stuff for people because no one ever uses my stuff. 3 cousins begged for knitted scarves. I made them and they never wear them. I crocheted my mom a purse last year and she's spent buttloads of money on 2 animal-skin purses since then but won't use the one I made her. And it's not because it isn't big enough!!!
^That sucks! Sometimes it just takes a fellow crafter to really appreciate the effort you put into something. Which makes me think how cool it would be if we could have a hipforums holiday swapbox...But oh yeah--swap boxes never work out for some strange reason.
