The guy is crazy. The world is filled with them. As a Christian, I would explain it as an example of our sinful nature.
Those who hate are not Christian. It is unbiblical to hate and use violence on our brother. I don't call him a brother in Christ because he brings himself forward as a pastor, he brings himself forward as a man of Christ, but he forgets such an important part of Christianity, and that is to love. So, how to explain it in Christianity? I don't - he is no Christian.
Idiots can be found in all religions, all non religious people, all demographics period, this has nothing to do with Christianity
Sorry, honeyfugle, but I do not agree with your statement (in bold). I suppose if one were to practice hatred, continually, every moment of every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day, of every week, of every month, of every year for the entirety of their remaining years, then I would probably agree. By this statement alone you also claim to not be Christian. And you would also be speaking falsely by claiming that you have neither hated. Does this invalidate your claim to your religion (whatever that religion may be)? Doesn't Christianity teach forgiveness? If it doesn't then I suppose there would be no salvation from one's hatred. From what I gather, in the Christian religion, it is one to allow one to perform offenses and ask forgiveness for that offense, and yet still one continues to practice that offense as long as one knows they could still be forgiven. So does this mean that all offences invalidates one's belief in Christianity, even though they can ask forgiveness (70 x 7)? Do you even know where hatred comes from? Do you know where anger comes from? Do you know where impatience comes from? Do you even know where disappointment comes from? And what is the result of prolonged hatred? And what is the result of prolonged anger? And what is the result of prolonged impatience? And what is the result of prolonged disappointments? And who was Jesus sent into this world for? The righteous? HTML:
she is right his not christian. Jesus said (i dont remember the correct words) but he says that " their mouths speak good things but their hearts are far from me" shes technical right. anyone can claim to be anything but that doesnt mean that they are that....
And so, thechnically, you are right also ... that means all those who express hatred for this man, for what he has said, are also not what they claim to be as well. If you can speak ill of anyone for what they have done, does that make you a Christian? These things I command you, that ye love one another. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. By the testamony of this thread, the words of Jesus are invalid ... you should hate those who hate you, right? Or, in this case, you should hate those who hate President Obama, and use the pulpit to express that hatred ... After all, HATE makes the world go round ... Right? And the message of Jesus is all about HATE ... Right? HTML:
You misunderstand what I said. What I meant was that he claims righteousness and to be a man of God, and claims to be a Christian, but although he can claim to be a Christian, his words and actions prove that he is not what he says he is. Hatred is very strongly forbidden in the Bible, in clear letters. And also read this site for a list of anti-hate passages from Scripture, as you can see there is so much precedence on loving your neighbour, I cannot see how anyone who claims to be a Christian can hate. But I understand your point. We can all make mistakes and we all act in anger and in hate, but what makes someone a believer versus someone who only says he believes, is that the believer will know when he has wronged and seek forgiveness, and this man here does not seem to see what he is doing wrong.
That to learn what it means, I desire mercy not sacrifice, is our greatest need. That when given the choice between guilt and innocence we still chose Barabas.
And was Jesus here to confirm your bond to the Levitical laws? To seek a continuance to the old laws which require an eye-for-an-eye? Or was his message to liberate one from the bonds of hatred and revenge? This message applies even to those who practice his message: an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Guess who said that? This applies even to all you who post to this thread expressing ill-will, anger, and hatred for the man with whom you have directed your "speaking mouth" ... if your mouth speaks evil, evil is in your heart ... HTML:
Well thats why I believe Jesus came to earth as you said for the sinful and also to bring the new testament (which is WAy stronger then the OT) I believe that even in the OT theirs things that we dont practice any more like if your brother dies and has no kids then marry and take care of her and if you die your next brother takes care of her....but no one really practices this...
We do not understand, there are no marriages in heaven. It is for our hardness of heart that these things are written. If an eye is not taken then no eye is owed. Mercy gives us the opportunity to fulfill every letter of the law.
You do not realise but we are saying the same things, only in different words. And I did not say I hate this man, only that he is a hypocrite.
This is partly because Gentile Christian converts were permitted not to follow Jewish tradition, and partly because many old customs and habits have died out over generations.
Perhaps! And then again, perhaps this message is for everyone and not just Steven L. Anderson. Anyone, and EVERYONE who has evil in his heart, speaks evil and performs evil deeds. And Jesus came for them ... his message is for them ... including for those who profess to practice his words. HTML:
