That fellow looks to be in pain. Is he holding a knife?

upon really close inspection, the black background appears to be lighter, in a line, about to where the guy's knee is...in my non-medical opinion...its a machete...

i was goign to write somethign about the second commandment, making depictions of God, blah-dee-blah-dee-blah...but i opted out on the basis of i don't like preaching

    take care everybodies

You think? I doubt there were very many white, bearded and long haired fellows wandering around the middle east at that time........it amazes me why artists always seem to have depicted Jesus like that....it's very wrong....

yeah, thats kinda what i was getting at...

ok, i lightened the "knife" up [poorly], and it appears to be some sort of dagger

i think the guy was going to do himself in, but the man in white stopped him

EDIT: the havet alway depicted Him like that, it was just after the anglo-saxons really got a hold of it...the defense ive heard from Orthodox Christains from maing depictions of Jesus is that they belive that the ancient ones [im not sure how old they claim them to be, but i think it was like first Cent. CE] to be fairly accurate, so they feel that the other ones [whre He isnt white and such] are also still fairly accurate

Actually, there were a lot of people walking around like that 2000 years ago.
    Atleast in Jewish areas...

Yes, there was trade.....and the Roman Empire conscripted from it's entirety, there probably were......I think someone might have noticed if Jesus wasn't a native of his lands tho' :p

Nah, those look like lillies in the forground to me (symbolic flower of death).....whoever that bloke is that Jesus is fondling....he's dead....

Well, I do doubt that Jesus was a white.

    How about the images of the white Jesus with blonde hair? ^^;
Well, whatever rocks their boat. :)

    .'Bloke'?
I thought only Aussies use that term. :D

The image has been edited (as you guys are well aware). In one hand, the man holds a large nail and in the other, a hammer. The implication that Christ is holding up the very person who crucified him. For Christians, it is a very moving picture because the man represents every one of us. It was us and our sin that crucified Him, yet He is faithful and just to forgive if we simply give up our pride and ask.

For non-Christians, I imagine it looks pretty silly.

Nah, he never crucified him.......Christ don't bear any marks of the crucifixion in that pic..

..i can see how it would make sense if he did tho' :)
