I'm going to be a sophomore in high school next August, and i'm trying to decide what college i want to go to. i'm within the top 20 of my class, and my gpa is about 100 percent. i want to be teach english, at a high school level if possible, but i'm not sure what colleges would be good for me. i just don't know where to start looking.

    any advice?

Well, that's not very much information. Honestly, unless your family is rich, I would suggest a state school if you want to be a teacher. Prestige of college really means nothing in that career so even though your credentials could get you into a prestigious school, it's not worth it if money is going to be even the slightest issue.

Do you think you'd like a big school or a small school? Penn State is a pretty good school and should be decently priced because you're in state. However, it's kind of huge and I know personally any school larger than 4000 people is out for me.

I would suggest making a list of things that you think would be important to you in a school: size, cost, political leanings, specializations, geographic location, prestige, etc etc. I did that at the end of my freshman year and made up a list of 50 colleges, then continued to narrow it down until I applied to my college my senior year early decision and that was that. Don't really stress about it because you don't know what your SAT or ACT scores are yet so it's really hard to narrow, but a handful of general schools that you're interested in is a good start.

does that mean 4.0, 4.33, 5.33? never heard of a percentage based gpa, but it seems like you should be above the top 20 in any case.

either way, to teach high school english it doesn't really matter where you go, because pretty much any major school will have an education program. so it basically depends on where you feel comfortable and can afford to go

Yeah any college is going to have an education program so don't even worry, like really don't. SERIOUSLY DONT FUCKING WORRY ABOUT IT!

As for PA schools we're lucky cause there is about a million colleges and higher learning programs in Pennsylvania and the Northeast, this is college heaven.
