Anyone else familair with this author?

I read two fantastic books awhile ago and just stumbled over the author's name (which has escaped me until now). So far I have read Perdido Street Station and The Scar. Absolutely amazing sci-fi stories, and these two books tie-in to each other. I highly recommend this author, and am going to hunt down some of his other books. Although the worlds he creates in these books are complex and straight from his imagination, his punkish, poetic writing style make them very suspenseful and enjoyable.

Mieville is fabulous! I read Perdido Street Station a month or so ago and I'm reading The Scar right now; I'd say your diagnosis of his writing is spot-on. There's a third "New Crobuzon" book titled Iron Council that recently came out; I'll read it eventually... He has another called King Rat that I've heard is excellent; it's completely unrelated to the others though.
