A children's book I found: Barefoot Bea It has an ironic twist at the end, but still good to see literature promoting barefoot living!
I've heard of that one, but never found it. The one I linked was published this year. There's also this other book: https://www.amazon.com/Shoes-Off-Mommy-Alison-Rose/dp/1974212742
Indeed. I was at a rest stop once and a young girl was happily running around barefoot and climbing on the smooth boulders and smooth sculpted pieces outside that were obviously there for that reason when her mother told her to "put on her shoes and sit down." Wow. This kid's been cooped in a car for who knows how long and finally has a chance to let off energy. And her "shoes" were flip-flops...maybe useful for walking into a public rest stop bathroom, but otherwise useless. Calling them shoes is ludicrous. That mother was a prong.
That's unfortunate, but I'm not surprised. Many parents are conditioned to believe that a magical inch of rubber will protect their kids' feet from all obstacles, especially during COVID. Of course there are those who do let their kids remain barefoot, but they're subject to "public shaming" from some dweeb with an iPhone. Case in point: Letting your kid walk around barefoot and touch everything like there isn't a pandemic going on. : facepalm

Wow. Just wow. What's worse, those parents who would be inclined to let their kids grow up without shoes are cowed by the motley horde. They can't leave others alone, oh no, they must needs probe with their long nose, take pictures and indulge in anonymous public shaming on a social media platform. Sartre is right. Hell is other people.
