What kind of memories do you have about your childhood?

Was it the best time of your life, or the worst?

Would you like to re-live it if possible?

I can not think of many negative memories or experiences from childhood that would not just be part of living. Things like a pet dying or when my grandparents died.

I think I was fortunate in that the memories that I have are either positive or funny things that happened. Most memories are family times and they are good.

I grew up in a very abusive household, so not alot of good memories there but I do remember the summer I was 15 we lived out in the middle of no where, the big town was 20 miles away and it was so big that sometimes there might be 6 cars lined up at the one stop light we had, but I digress.
That was the summer I discovered marijuana and it was also the summer that the farmer we rented our house from planted the 1000 acres surrounding our house with sunflowers. I would climb up on the roof with my new discovery and just sit there buzzed and watch these sunflowers. There were flowers as far as the eye could see and each one was in perfect step with the others as they followed the sun across the sky, it just amazed me. Kind of a lame memory but still a good one for me.

I had a great childhood with very few bad moments, one bad memory was contracting Rheumatic Fever and being paralized for a few weeks. All else was fairly good and norbal....Typical Mayberry RFD small town life, felt safe and spent most of my free time in the woods in a tree cabin some friends and I had built....;-)

I remember my mom and brother used to pass me through a telephone door between a bedroom and the diningroom. it was a very small thing about 8 inches square. it was made so you could put a telephone on it and use it from both rooms. nothing more.

I had a pretty good childhood. Full of love. We'd always do family things on weekends, bike rides, visit caves, hiking places, other state parks, we'd go to an old town called Galena, it's an interesting place. I think my childhood was full of so much happiness and security that it made growing up harder. I miss those days.

The only bad memory really was my mom got fucked up in the head for about a month when I was in 3rd grade. A combo of dieting pills, this ignorant as fuck stupid church, and then stupid as fuck doctors who didn't know shit about what they were doing. It was a tough time but I never once believed she wouldn't make it through.

I had a wonderful childhood but I wouldn't want to live it over again because I am looking forward to my future.

My favorite memories involve our summer backpacking trips and sledding during the winter.

I remember good and bad things, and I wouldn't want to re-live it at all.

High school was a great time for me, and I can't really choose because I had a blast the whole four years. My worst memory...well, I try not to think about those. It's best to focus on the positive.

edit- I would relive high school, but not my whole childhood. There was a lot of mental turmoil when I was a kid, I wouldn't want to deal with that shit all over again.

definitely high school...pot smoking, acid trips, hanging out at the trail, being sketchy, being high in public

I remember building forts/treehouses in the woods, playing basketball for hours, family vacations, making homemade movies with a couple friends that lived next door. My Dad worked two jobs so I didn't get to see him very much, but other than that it was ideal.

Public / Grade School was the best time

High School was ok but it was a total mind fuck

Its not just childhood memories that fuck with you though, you go through the present in 1st person, and its only till later reflection that you look at it in 3rd person.

Theres stuff in my 20s and 30s that seemed the way it was at the time, but looking back now, you really wonder why you made this choice or that choice

And I'm sure its going to be the same the next decade

Recently, it started feeling like a different person. Nor, am I 100% of what I remember, and what I am embellishing or dismissing.

I'm sure what I think I was then, is just a part of me now.

    -----------------------------

    1. I do have one memory: biking in Brasilia, World Cup 1986 on a usually busy highway. Absolutely deserted...I was very happy.

    2. Another one, biking with this other black kid (janitor's son). I dared him to go full speed into a busy street without looking. I did it, did not get hit though got yelled and honked at. And he punked out on the curb.

    3. Last memory at the moment, seeing my aunt's breasts. She was 17 and her breasts were amazingly beautiful. :2thumbsup:

Everyone has such happy memories. nobody wants to share any bad ones? Fuck it, I'll share one.

I remember being about 9 or 10 and throwing several kitchen knives at my mom from across the street. I don't think I was even close to her on purpose, though, and i'm sure it was due to overmedication.

Oh what the hell. My mom nearly died the summer I was 9 years old. I remember sitting with her daily while she threw up everything she ate, she was wasting away, and all she did was throw up and cry. She looked like death and one day she collapsed in the living room. That's when she finally broke down and decided it was time to go to the hospital. From the age of 9-11, it was almost touch and go with her, she'd be doing alright, out of the hospital, and then something would happen and she'd be right back in. All of this took a toll on my mental state which was slightly fragile to begin with and I spent the whole first semester of 5th grade in a worried frenzy. I faked sick every day so I could go home and make sure she was alright. Her health has never been great, but I'm so glad that she hasn't been that bad in several several years.
