hell no..you got to have a auto computer to hook up to your car and then it tells you the code of whats wrong..it is usually emissions..and then it will turn off the light..I know there is a ghetto way by disconnecting the battery, erm, not sure
Depends on how new your car is. If it relies on a pc for most operation disconnecting the battery to remove TC's (trouble codes) can severly damage your system.
When mine is on, I just go to the auto parts store and have them hook the computer up to my car to checkit. It's usually something simple that I can find a solution for on YouTube and fix it myself.
thanks for the ideas! I got to get this thing turned off cause I have to go and get a smog to update my registration and it is an automatic fail if the check engine light is on
I put a piece of black tape over mine after I "upgraded" the exhaust system. (removed the catalytic converter and replaced it with a straight pipe) No inspections in my state!:auto:
If its running fine, Most likely a 02 sensor. Or if mileage is/has been dropping its a 02. Or like mentioned, Open gas cap and re tighten it. If you pump gas with a FI car running, It trips the CEL for evap or low fuel psi. Just get the cheap P code(s) its throwing out and google them or they can tell ya on the spot most of the time. Good luck either way
mine is on always happens when i go to the full serve gas place and the dipshits arent careful with the cap...ive just been too lazy to clear the code ..it will reset itself later anyway
Horse all the way, man. Can be a pain in the ass but way more worth the effort than a car, at least in my opinion.
Not me, I feel sad for all equine beasts of burden. Never heard of a horse giving permission for anyone to ride on their back. They must be broken, and that strikes me as an unnecessary cruelty. Especially when it's only for some humans recreational pleasure.
Even if you disconnect the battery to clear the idiot light, it will still flag when they run the inspection.
